Jamestown
1606 a company of London investors received from King James a charter to found a colony in North America. They sent 3 ships with 100 settlers.
1607: Jamestown was settled on the coast of Virginia
Pilgrims
A group of people who in 1620 founded the colony of Plymouth in Massachusetts to escape religious persecution.
Puritans
Sought religious freedom.
Samuel de Champlain
1608: Sailed up the St. Lawrence River and founded Quebec which was known as New France.
He was from France.
French and Indian war
It started because they wanted territory.
It was between the French and British.
The British won and they got a huge amount of land in North America
