Rights of Parents of Children with Disabilities & Knowledge of Procedural Safeguards
The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) provides procedural safeguards that are designed to protect the rights of a parent and their child with a disability and at the same time, give families and school systems several mechanisms by which to resolve disputes. This training will build a common understanding of these rights inclusive of parent access to student educational records, parent rights to participate in groups and meetings where decisions are made about their child’s education, as well as parent notification requirements and situation specific safeguards.

Writing Activities that Promote Learning
Having trouble figuring out how to get your child interested in writing? Not sure where to look? This training will focus on strategies and activities your child can use to help promote successful writing. Parents will gain an understanding of the processes involved in writing through a make and take session with hands-on activities. Parents will walk away with a resource of strategies and an understanding on how to implement these activities at home to help their child grow in their writing development. Come and discover the many different ways to teach writing at home and make it fun!
