PRESIDENT'S LETTER

Welcome new Cape Story Civic Association Members, and greetings to those who have been a part of us the past years!

As always, the years seem to fly by so quickly- at this point, we've just changed the clocks again for Daylight Savings Time! Hooray for being able to wake up with daylight, and leave work (hopefully) when there is still some light in the sky!

The VBCCO (Virginia Beach Council of Civic Organizations) is re-establishing itself as an official voting body that represents the wishes and support of the city's civic organizations. Cape Story had been a voting participant for many years, and will continue to do so as the VBCCO attempts to re-establish its role as a supporting organization. Our President and Vice President are voting representatives, and will strive to support the wishes of the active members of the CSBTS Civic Association.

As the current CSBTS Civic Association President, I must continue to stress the importance of speed control throughout the neighborhood. We understand that various delivery persons might not realize that the folks in our area actually come out and ENJOY walking, playing, and participating in activities within our neighborhood. But those who live here should understand that (unlike those in more "sterile" neighborhoods in the area), our Cape Story families really enjoy the outdoors here. And the neighborhood is filled with dogs, cats, and wildlife. When you head out or back into the neighborhood streets, please make an effort to slow down and COAST as you head to or from home. It's the responsible thing to do, and can possibly save a life along the way!

We've had lots of new families move into the neighborhood in recent months, and welcome all of you! If you have any ideas about additional civic league-sponsored activities that we could do in addition to the seasonal ones already in place, please reply to this message, or send a message to any of the current officers. In addition, please let us know if you have any ideas about new or different events or supportive activities we could do as an organization to expand what we do for the residents or our area.

Best always,

Diana

43rd ANNUAL OYSTER ROAST

Thanks to everyone who came to this year’s Oyster Roast! It was a great day in our neighborhood park. Proceeds from the Oyster Roast cover the cost of other events the Civic League puts on: Spring Fling, 4th of July parade and brunch, Cape Santa, and the Skipjack.

Hi Everyone,

Just want to send a big THANK YOU to the core group for all the time and effort you put into making the CSBTS Oyster Roast a great success! No details yet, and of course we will do a debrief on what went well and ways to improve moving forward.

I also want to thank the additional volunteers who came to help out before/during/after the event, especially those we can count on to just show up and help out each year. It was great to see some new faces helping out with this great event.

Please know that all your hard work is appreciated!

Best always
