GWA Track and Field Athletes Head to State Meet

Both Kendall Garrett and Cedric Robertson qualified to compete in the state track and field meets. Kendall competed in the long jump during the girls state meet last Saturday in Albany. She had a great series of jumps, finishing with a personal best jump of 16’01 and ultimately placed 6th in the state.

Cedric has not yet competed at state as the boys state meet will be held this weekend in Jefferson. His race, the 110m high hurdles, is Saturday afternoon. He will enter the race as the 2nd seed, having run the second best time in the semi-final heats last week. He ran 14.94, which was both a personal best and a new GWA record for the event.

3rd and 4th Grade Students Present "We the People"

GWA 3rd and 4th graders recently gave separate performances of "We the People." Both performances included the same patriotic songs--"This Land is Your Land," "America, the Beautiful," and "God Bless the USA," to name a few. The 3rd and 4th grade scripts, however, were totally different, as students from each grade wrote major portions of the script. The performance was presented as a celebration of our American heritage and as a tribute to our veterans. (Photo by April Staples)
