Birth - 1 year
1-2 Months
- 1 month: Lifts chin when placed on stomach
- 2 month: Lifts chest well above surface when placed on stomach
3-4 Months
- Holds up head up steadily
- Reaches for objects, but unsteadily
- Rolls from side to back and from back to side
5-6 Months
- Sits alone briefly
- Uses hands to reach, grasp, crumble, bang, and splash
- Turns completely over when laid on back or stomach
7-8 Months
- Sits up steadily
- Picks up large objects
- Propels self by arms, knees, or squirming motion
9-10 Months
- Reaches for and manipulates objects, including medium-sized ones, with good control
- Crawls on hands and knees
11-12 Months
- Shows preference for one hand over the other
- Fits blocks, boxes, or nesting toys inside each other
- Stands alone
