News from Dr. Holcomb
At Riverside, we have multiple outcomes that we are working towards. One of our goals is for our students as a learning community to believe they can learn to read, read to learn and become independent, competent writers. One of the measurements the District utilizes to check our progress in the State FAST assessment. Our students will prepare to take this screener again in January. The assessment window is open January 14th-25th. In the Fall we had 58% of our student's proficient. Our ultimate goal is to increase that by 10% on the Spring screening. Our teachers have been working hard to align their instruction to the needs of our students. We are anxious to see the results in late January in order to help us adjust our course for the remainder of the school year.
Through the leadership responsibilities of Focus, Opportunity, and Encouragement we have set goals for ourselves during our Monday Professional Learning Communities and Professional Development times. In addition, we will be Sailing Around the building in teams of teachers to ensure that our focus is spot on. We appreciate the time we have to get together and learn.
Thank you to the Riverside Community for your generosity this holiday season. We had a large number of donations in the form of presents, hats, mittens, etc. We appreciate your
generosity and are humbled by your outpouring of support.

Please, join us in the effort to maintain a safe and healthy school environment.
