WMS Weekly Warrior
Week of 2-3-20
Good Afternoon WMS Community,
Happy Superbowl Monday! Everyone seems to be moving a little slower this morning as the impact of the late night game ways upon us. On Sunday, the WMS Alliance sponsored our annual Superbowl breakfast in our Cafeteria. Over 300 guests were served and money from this event goes to support our school wide March Madness. A special thank you to our Alliance members and the Nonnewaug High School girls’ basketball team for serving and greeting our guests. We would also like to thank all the adult volunteers who assisted Alliance members in this event. As always, these special events could not take place without the support from our community. We appreciate your generocity.
WMS is celebrating Black History Month during the month of February. Our students have researched and created displays that celebrate the lives of many influential and historical figures in African American history. We look forward to continuing this as we visit the Museum of African American History on our Eighth grade trip to Washington D.C.
The eighth grade dance committee met last week. The following is being sent on behalf of the dance committee:
We are pleased to announce that the 8th Grade Dance will be held at The Heritage Hotel in the Timber Room on June 5th, 2020 at 7:00 p.m. The dance committee met last week to discuss details regarding fundraising. Successful fundraisers and donations will determine the final price per ticket.
It's never too early to donate! For those able, please make checks payable to Region 14 School District and include 8th grade dance in the memo.
We will be providing additional information that you can find here on the weekly warrior!
A reminder to those students attending the eighth grade trip to Washington D.C., the second payment is due on February 6th. If you have not done so, please make your payment before then.

Leo Club Backpack Collection
The Woodbury Middle School Leo Club is collecting lightly used backpacks or drawstring bags as part of a drive to prepare care packages for the less fortunate this winter season. Club members will collect and fill the backpacks/bags with various care and hygiene products, and will deliver them to area shelters for distribution. Care packages will be assembled for men, women, and children, so any style of backpack can be donated.
Any donated bags can be dropped off in the Culinary Arts Room, # 115.
On behalf of the WMS Leo Club, we would like to thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Caroline South and Mike Hadoulis
