Principal's Message
ELK Family,
Success for ALL of our BHS students is a huge priority!!! We are in our 4th week of the school year and our student's progress is being documented/recorded daily. Continue to monitor your child's grades and attendance through the use of our SKYWARD Tool. Family Access If you ever need help in utilizing this valuable tool, do no hesitate to contact your child's HOUSE office. Another key student success initiative that we started this year is our built in FLEX Time. The FLEX Time occurs every day and provides a student the needed intervention in a particular subject. Students that are not needing intervention are being provided additional time for study and/or homework time. This has been a great addition to our schedule and students are taking full advantage of these "session invites." We will continue to refine FLEX Time so that we can provide more intervention, extension, and guidance in all areas.
Thanks for you Support!
GO ELKS!

“The boys are closing the gap between our top three and our next three runners and the girls are doing the same between our first and our second, third, fourth and fifth runners. We just have to keep that up.”

Mansfield Timberview who are the newcomers to our district finished with our first shut out of the year at 19-0. BHS played Arlington Sequin on Tuesday and ended with a score of 16-3. Elk Varsity Football
WACO – Coming into the season, Burleson football coach Gary McElroy thought his defense was pretty good.
Pretty good might be an understatement.
Friday night, the Elks defense dominated Waco University’s offense limiting the Trojans to 50 yards on 43 plays.
While the defense was running roughshod over the University, the Elks offense was racking up points and yardage in a 51-6 District 9-5A Division II opening-night win at Waco ISD Stadium.
The win got the Elks (1-0 in district) off to a 3-0 start for the second consecutive year. Burleson hosts Joshua Friday for homecoming at 7:30 p.m. at Burleson ISD Stadium.
The Elks held University to 45 yards rushing on 26 attempts and five yards passing on 17 attempts. The Trojans didn’t run a play in the Elks territory and were forced to punt 10 times.
So far this season, the defense has allowed a pair of touchdowns.
University’s lone score came in the second quarter when Qua’Vean Mitchell picked up a fumble and raced 21 yards for a score. The touchdown cut the Elks lead to 21-6.
Burleson then scored the next 30 points to put the game away.
The Elks got a big night from junior running back Caleb Lewis and sophomore running back Jarrett Austin.
Lewis did all his damage in the first half rushing for 108 yards on 11 carries. He scored the first two touchdowns of the game on runs of 40 and 4 yards.
The second half belonged to Austin. After accounting for 16 yards on three attempts in the first half including a one-yard run, the sophomore shouldered the rushing load in the second half. Austin scored on runs of 26 and eight yards in the second half. He also carried 11 times for 102 yards in the second half. He finished the game with 14 carries for 118 yards and three scores.
Senior quarterback Jacob Amador had another good night leading the offense. Amador completed 8-of-15 passes for 106 yards including an 18-yard pass to Jacob Moss. For the night, Mass hauled in three passes for 33 yards.
Aden Anderson caught three passes for 66 yards.
