FROM SCHOOL ADMINISTRATION
Happy New Year! We would like to extend best wishes to all of our Lisbon students, staff, and families for a happy and healthy new year.
We hope each of you had a restful and meaningful time with your family and friends during the winter break.
January is always about fresh beginnings and positive change. We love the promise of the New Year and all the possibilities that it offers for our children here at LES.
We are ready to make 2022 a year filled with success through hard work and dedication by providing students with daily opportunities to learn and grow. We are in this together – administrators, teachers, support staff, students, and families. Thank you for partnering with us on this journey!
At the same time, we acknowledge that January brings a lot of uncertainty with the continuation of the COVID-19 pandemic and the variants that seem to keep all of us anxious. We appreciate your continued flexibility as we manage whatever the pandemic continues to bring us in the coming weeks.
LES is a very special place. We are thankful for our students, staff, and parents. Let’s make 2022 the best year ever! Please call us if you have any questions or concerns. We are happy to assist in any way that we can.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Anoff, Principal
Ms. Wright, Assistant Principal

NEW INFORMATION
Masking Expectations
Masking Expectations
CDC guidance for schools has not changed regarding removing masks while eating. Students and staff are permitted to remove their masks while eating or drinking and are required to wear masks at all other times while indoors. Some students and staff have received medical exemptions for mask-wearing, which will continue to be granted.
Mask Availability in Schools
While KN95 masks are recommended by the CDC and students may bring their own if they have them, they are not mandated. Students and staff will be permitted to use disposable or cloth masks. Disposable masks will continue to be available in schools for all students and staff, especially for younger children for whom KN95 masks may not fit. Masks will be given to students who arrive at school without a mask or if their mask is lost during the school day. Masks will also be given to students who have a mask that does not cover their nose and mouth.

INFORMATION WORTH REPEATING
UPDATED CALENDAR FOR 2021-22
WEATHER GUIDELINES FOR OUTDOOR RECESS
Exercise outdoors is healthy and is strongly encouraged. It provides a break from the regular school routine, a chance to get some outside air, and an opportunity to run off excess energy.
If conditions preclude the full recess time, even a five-minute break can revitalize children and prepare them for more sitting and academic learning. Children are expected to wear warm clothing to protect them during cold weather when participating in recess or outside activities.
The decision to go out or stay in for recess is the decision of the Administrator at individual schools. However, the following are to be considered in determining whether recess is to be held outside:
- Temperature and Windchill
- Age of students
- Length of time outdoors
- Adequacy of the children’s clothing
- Condition of the playground
- Falling precipitation (more than a sprinkle or mist)
Generally, it is assumed that students will be outside for recess when the temperature combined with the wind chill is not less than 20 degrees Fahrenheit. Children with certain health conditions may need special accommodations during extremely cold weather. Parents of those children should provide medical documentation and may be consulted to determine if other arrangements are necessary.
