ISTEP+ Schedule Week 2: The Saga Continues
Today- We have mega-block periods 1, 3, and 5. These periods will be double length to accommodate a 55 minute ELA writing test. If you have LA p. 1, 3, or 5, you test today. If not, you test tomorrow. This will be an A and B day. If you have related arts period 1, 3, or 5, you have BOTH of those classes today.
Tuesday- We will attend period 2, 4, and 6 and have another A and B day. The students that have LA p. 2, 4, or 6 have the writing test. Students with even numbered related arts classes will have both classes this day.
Wednesday- Students will take 6th science and 7th social studies tests during class on a straight 1-6 A day.
Thursday- We'll finish up make-up testing and have a straight 1-6 B day.
Friday- We'll have a straight 1-6 A day with a shortened afternoon to accommodate our Winter Awards at 1:30 PM.
Good luck on this week's tests and good job on the test environment support! Thanks for staying out of wing restrooms and lockers while your peers are testing.
TWO REALLY IMPORTANT THINGS
- SMS is moving the official end of the grading period to Friday, March 17th. The original end of the quarter was March 10th but with three school cancellations and some late starts, we are going to extend to March 17th. Report cards will be published March 21st.
- The start of spring break is also moved back one day due to the recent weather-related school cancellation. SCSD2 will be in session both Monday, March 20 and Tuesday, March 21st. Spring break will begin March 22nd. School will resume on Monday, April 3rd.
Celebrating AmeriCorps Week
Scott County and the rest of the nation are celebrating AmeriCorps Week March 4-11th! AmeriCorps is a program where members earn a small living wage or educational stipend to serve in their communities. The Scott County Partnership sponsors AmeriCorps in our community and they have had a long standing relationship with SMS!
This year's AmeriCorps position is our Reading Coach, Mr. Jimmy Hutton. Mr. Hutton serves with us several days a week as a mentor, coach, and overall reading encourager during SSR and lunch periods. We thank Mr. Hutton for his service to our school and to our community! We also thank the Scott County Partnership for their sponsorship of this incredible program!
