The Lemonade Club
By: Patricia Palaco
Genre
The genre is Realistic fiction.
I know it is realistic fiction because the book is based off of Patricia's daughter's friend's childhood, but Patricia tweaked some of the book so some of the book are real facts and others aren't.
Authors Purpose
The authors purpose is to entertain.
I know that this book is to entertain because it's not trying to persuade me into buying something or doing something and it's not informing me on a subject, so it is entertaining me.
Theme
The theme of my story is "It's okay to be different". The theme is "It's okay to be different" because in the beginning of the story Marilyn was heavier than the other girls and in the middle of the story she has lukemia.

Summary
Marilyn and Traci are best friends, but one day Traci was at Marilyn's house and she was tired for no reason. She had also lost a lot of weight. Later, Marilyn went to the doctor and found out she had leukemia. Marilyn under went chemotherapy. After she started chemotherapy she didn't go to school and she just slept. In the middle of the story, Traci went to Marilyn's house and Marilyn was brushing her hair, but her hair was falling out. Then everybody shaved their hair off to make Marilyn feel better mentally, and Marilyn's leukemia healed. At the end of the story Marilyn's and Traci's teacher Mrs. Wichelman told Marilyn and Traci she had breast cancer. Mrs. Wichelman survives and gets married. " "Lemonade Club" has to do with the book because Mrs. Wichelman always says, "If life hands you a lemon or two today- and you know how sour they are, just add water and sugar what do you have?" Then the students would shout out, "Lemonade!" That is a summary of my book "The Lemonade Club".
Evaluation
This story is touching to me since I can make a connection, Cammy had cancer and so did Marilyn.
