Lancer Update
Lancer Families,
6-8 State Testing will be:
ELA- April 4th and 5th
Math- May 2nd and 3rd
It is exam time- Breathe… Breathe again… One more time. No need for anyone to stress, including our students! We will be encouraging them to take the exams and will be asking you to encourage as well. This will be good practice to sit for a long time and try something that is difficult. Perseverance and stamina are a great skill for our middle schoolers to learn and will get them ready for Regents time. The message home will be simple and say that we encourage all our students to take the NYS exams to see where we as a school are and prepare our students for the skills they need to take the exams that they need to graduate for in the high school.
Attention 8th Grade Parents:
Living Environment- June 15th
Algebra- June 16th
World Language- June 21st
Reminder that your students are all taking credit bearing, high school, courses this year. All students are taking Living Environment, and Either Spanish or French. Some students are taking Algebra as well. These course all have an exam at the end of this year that students must pass in order to receive their credit. Please encourage your students to speak with their teachers about review opportunities and was they can begin preparing for these exams. We know that regents exam are new and different for our 8th graders and are mandatory to take for regents credit, but we know they can rise to the challenge and start their high school career with some credits toward graduation!
Some Reminders -
From the Nurse - please remember that ONLY a parent or guardian can bring medicine into the nurse. Please do not send items like this in with your child.
- K-95 masks are still available for students and so are COVID test kit's for at home use. Call 339-1436 if you would like one sent home with your student or if you would like to pick up the at home Covid Kits
- A couple of reminders for you and your child; there is no video recording allowed in class or in the hallways - none. We have had some students video people without their permission and used these videos inappropriately on SnapChat.
- If your child tells you they are staying after school, it is either for a sport, a club, or with a teacher. We have had some students "hanging out" which is not allowed and creates a safety risk
- If your student is late to school more than three times they will have an after school detention set up for them. Attendance to school is super important and we want our Lancers Learning!
If your child is having trouble putting his/her phone away during class, teachers will be asking to have them put it on their desks or it is an option to have them turn the phone in daily to the main office and pick it up at the end of the day. Phones are a huge barrier to learning and usually play a part in some manner in most of the discipline we deal with daily.
If you are dropping food off for your son or daughter, it needs to be during lunch time:
6th Grade Lunch- 10:45
7th Grade Lunch- 11:25
8th Grade Lunch- 12:10
Late bus is for students who stay with a teacher or a club, NOT for playing outside.
8th Grade Parent Night for the High School- April 4th at Eastridge starting at 6:30pm
Need a Sports Physical?
What to do if you are exposed to COVID
