Special Olympics Unified Class + Drama UNITE!
Ms. Adam's Drama class collaborated with our Special Olympics Unified class to play a cooperative learning game. The students had to work together as a team to keep their balloon up in the air. They had a great time and learned a lot at the same time! Shout out to Ms. Adams and her students for collaborating so well with our Unified students! Check out some of the pics from this activity below.
Math is FUN and Challenging!
Students in Ms. Buller's 8th Grade classes collaborated with their peers to do the Toothpick Squares Talk by YouCubed. This activity allows students to see a growth pattern in different ways. We use the number talk approach to debrief the way students are ‘seeing’ the toothpicks so others have an opportunity to see different ways of looking at the problem. This helps students realize that there are different strategies for solving problems in maths and that maths is about generalizing how we see patterns. In this problem students will have an opportunity to generalize the number of toothpicks needed to make any size square.
Check out the amazing work done by the students below! Awesome mathematical conversations and problem-solving!
WKMS Teacher Learning!
Did you know that teachers continue to grow in their learning too? Before the school year and throughout the school year, our teachers attend trainings, professional learning sessions, meetings, etc to help further their knowledge and strengthen their teaching muscles. Check out some pics below of our amazing teachers and their dedication to providing the absolute best education for our students and families. Thank you, teachers, for all the hard work you do and effort you give each and every day!
