Carnegie Updates
for the week of May 14th
Principal Pollard
Dear Carnegie Professionals,
As we begin our end-of-year celebrations, let us be mindful of the fact that there is still much work to be done. With over five weeks left in the academic year and NWEA testing just around the corner, there are many more concepts for students to learn and multiple opportunities for student growth. At this point, bell-to-bell instruction is so very critical! Let's keep our eyes on the prize and increase our chances for greater student success!
Regional Gifted Center School Tours: Carnegie School has began to offer school tours for perspective parents interested in learning more about the school and the Regional Gifted Center. Mrs. Watson, Mrs. Roberson on myself will conduct daily tours. Parents are observing every aspect of our school environment this includes the classroom, hallway transitions, and staff. We should observe high quality teaching, rich student-to-teacher discourse, relevant student discourse at the partner or group level and high levels of student engagement. During transitions, security must be on their feet and visible throughout the hallways. All staff members are expected to conduct themselves in a professional matter at all times. "First impressions are the most lasting."
There will be a PAC Meeting on Tuesday, May 15th at 9:00 a.m. in the cafeteria.
Administrative Transfer Period ends on Monday, May 21st. During this window teachers may transfer to another school effective at the end of this school year without the consent of their current principal.
Teacher Roster Verification: The Teacher Roster Verification window opened April 30th-May 18th. In order to receive PT student growth credit for the correct students, ALLteachers must verify the Performance Task roster(s) they expect to get credit for (PT verification) AND ALSO confirm the percentage of time they teach students (classroom verification.) Email all BFK/Roster verification questions to rosterverification@cps.edu.
You may log in to Roster Verification at BFK.org/Chicago, click “Access Link” then use your CPS username and password to log in to the system. There you will find the Teacher Tutorial and other helpful resources.
IMPORTANT: Teachers on leave, SpEd, Resource who did not enter BOYs into CIM, will most likely NOT see their PT listed in Battelle, and must ADD the PT roster(s)/students they expect to get PT Credit for!
EOY Performance Task Window: The EOY Performance window closes on June 8th. All EOY’s must be administered and entered into CIM by no later than June 8th. Testing materials may be downloaded from CPS Knowledge Center for those who failed to order their materials prior to the deadline date.

Happy Mother's Day!
The other day visiting the Tilton a little first grader said to me ….”Mr. Scully give me a hug”….leaving the building I thought of those hugs from my Mom and how many times so many of you give a child a hug…a pat on the back…and encouraging word or smile….
So many of you are blessed to still have your Mothers…others have sadly had to say good by…but here or there the legacy of love they have left us is never ending…and through your loving ways you provide so many children in this city with that special touch that lets them know they are truly loved and respected…
So today I say thank you…to all in our schools as we approach Mother’s Day…and to those Dads that have had to fill both roles…for the love we share will always be remembered by many…God Bless you all on this special day…
