Reading Buddies
This week with our 3rd Grade Reading Buddies, I wanted to share a great book I came across at the local library, The Three Questions, written and illustrated by Jon J. Muth.
As the inside flap describes, "Jon J Muth combined his studies of Zen with his love for Leo Tolstoy [the story is based off of one of his short stories] to create this profound, yet simple book about compassion and living in the moment."
As a way for our students to combine art, response to reading, and enjoying the weather, we then made chalk art inspired by the story and its characters! (especially fun for our students who recognized the characters resembling those in Kung Fu Panda!)

Books, Buddies, & Blankets! (and beach balls!)
Ms. Taterway organized this event for the whole school to read together! For a straight twenty minutes, all classes gathered outside with their Reading Buddies and blankets for a Chesterbrook reading Friday. Later, cold treats were passed out and students played with friends across all grade levels and beach balls just before the rain came!
Field Day Team Building!
Following Books, Buddies, and Blankets, students and faculty all met up with their Field Day teams to make banners, create cheers, and rally up some energy! Be on the lookout for Ms. Soto's Weekly Wrapup for team pictures and team rosters.
