Managing Your Skin Care Transition
How to introduce and supplement AgeWell products
MANAGING CLIENT EXPECTATIONS WITH AGEWELL from Medical Aesthetician Dr.Camille Semple- Daly
I’ve sold several kits in my Medical Aesthetic practice. My patients absolutely love it because I manage their expectations from the onset.
First, I impress upon them that this is Next-Level Anti-Aging Skin Care. RE9 or whatever else they were using was good, but AgeWell is almost on the level of medical grade skin care.
I explain to each and every patient and client that their skin WILL go through an adjustment phase because these ingredients are more concentrated and there is the added Bakuchiol. It is not a question of if, but when.
This is some of what one can expect:
1- Your skin may feel less moist initially. This is a phase of the moisture balancing and it is appreciated more by those who suffer with oily skin. The sudden evening of the moisture feels drying when you’ve been oily for most of your life. To nip any possible complaints, I send an RE9 mask as a gift to EVERY AgeWell client, for them to use if they begin to feel dry...just one mask works like a charm.
2- Slight breakouts in the lower face- I warn clients that this may occur as their skin is purging- I ask them to make sure they are gently exfoliating and not to back off the products, as the Bakuchiol will help hasten the healing of the outbreak with minimal scarring.
3- Outbreaks on the upper cheek and forehead may be due to the super-duper concentrated eye cream. I ask my clients to put on the eye cream last, to be careful not to get it outside the eye area, and then wash their hands. I have to try not to get it anywhere else on their face, because when I do, it is guaranteed I’ll have a pimple on that spot. Also try to put on the products at least an hour before they lay down, that way the eye cream will not get on their pillow, then on their face.
4- The skin may look mottled approximately 1 month in as hyperpigmented areas begin to lighten. Again, stay the course as you are on your way to a brighter, more even complexion.
5- Peeling- especially around the nose- a sign of the entire face exfoliating at the cellular level- it’s just more noticeable around the nose. Exfoliate gently, be generous with the night time moisturizer, and stay the course. Your skin is turning over faster, so the older upper layers are peeling off. This will be less noticeable once the skin has renewed.

AgeWell 101 from Master Aesthetician Eileen Kolar
With retinols your skin needs an adjustment period.
Agewell is a plant-based retinoid, which increases cell turnover.
Agewell is a phenomenal product, but unfortunately in my opinion it is not used correctly. With retinols your skin needs an adjustment period. When doctors prescribe RetinA they have them start out slowly using it once to twice a week.
Agewell contains 2% in the serum, 2% in the night cream and 2% in the DermResults concentrate.
Clients are using all of these products and unfortunately not everyone can tolerate that much retinol. Oily skin clients will love it because retinol slows down oil production. That’s why RetinA is used for Acne.
Below is an explanation of why some clients are having dry skin.
Retinol encourages cell division in the deepest (basal) layer of cells. Too much retinol will produce too much cell division, causing large numbers of immature cells to rise up to the surface without the proper bonds to hold them together.
When too many cells rise up to the surface, the skin can start to peel, as the lipids and bonds that are needed to hold them together haven’t yet formed. Without these protective bonds, other skin care products are also able to penetrate deeper than they’re supposed to, resulting in skin sensitivity, stinging, and redness.
The barrier layer of our skin is now compromised and needs to be repaired.
When dry skin occurs with Agewell stop using it and the DermResults Peel pads. The peel pads have acids that penetrate the Epidermis.
To exfoliate dry skin use BrightenUp skin exfoliator without using pressure. Glide the beads gently over the skin.

Once the skin heals, incorporate one of the Agewell products at a time.
Continue using HydrateMe serum. I would probably start using the Agewell Night Cream. The night cream contains 2% Bakuchiol but is buffered with lipids. Once the skin adjusts you may start to incorporate the other products as your skin can tolerate. Remember everyone needs to pay attention to how their skin feels. Everyone has what I call a Sweet Spot. It is up to your clients with your help to find it.
Our ingredients are amazing because they create the activity to create change in our skin. For that very reason we need to be better at knowing our Clients skin.

What cream they use depends on their skin. If their skin is already dry from using AgeWell, stop AgeWell til their skin heals. When you introduce AgeWell again I might try Nourishing Facial Oil then AgeWell. Everyone will be a little different. Our systems need to be tweaked to fit our clients skin.
