Important Dates

  • NOV 22nd - Holly Jolly Parade - see details below regarding float decorating and parade
  • NOV 23, 24 & 25 - NO SCHOOL - Thanksgiving Break
  • DEC 13 - Christmas Program, mark your calendars, 6-8pm (students should arrive at time given by their teachers)
  • DEC 19 - JAN 2 - NO SCHOOL (classes resume on Tuesday, Jan 3rd)

OLD NEWSBOYS HOLLY JOLLY CHRISTMAS PARADE

Marine City Holly Jolly Christmas Parade is Tuesday November 22nd. All Crusader students and families are welcome to be part of the parade: dress in festive weather appropriate clothing (hats, lights, etc.) and meet in front of Holy Cross at 6:30pm. All students must be accompanied by an adult throughout the event. The parade will travel up Water Street and Broadway, and end at Heritage Park, 300 Broadway.


Float decorating will take place on Nov 22nd immediately after school at 3:00pm in front of Holy Cross.


We will be collecting non-Halloween-labeled candy to pass out at the parade also: Candy donations should be in sealed containers/Ziploc bags and turned into the school office by Nov 21st.

SCRIP OFFICE CLOSED - NOV 25TH - DAY AFTER THANKSGIVING

Please note that our SCRIP office will be closed the day after Thanksgiving on Nov. 25th.

WEATHER IS CHANGING - PLEASE WEAR WARM ATTIRE

As you know the temperatures have dropped. Our students are outside for recess unless it is raining/snowing or the temps are below 15 degrees F. Please make sure your students have warm attire, including gloves and hats. They can store boots and snow pants at the school if you'd like for the cold season. Thank you!

K of C - CHRISTMAS PARTY - DEC 4TH

K of C is hosting their annual Christmas Party on December 4th. See flyer for HERE for more details. Make sure to RSVP!!

PAY TO PLAY

Our next round of sports is starting. Please remember that for each sport there is a $50 "pay to play" fee. Please make sure this fee is paid if your students are participating in Cheer or Basketball. Checks can be made out to "OLR". Thank you!

CAMP PAYMENTS -

Camp letters went out with the cost breakdown for each family, including payment due dates. Please get those payments in asap if you missed the first installment. Thank you for all the payments received.

8TH GRADE FAMILIES - SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY

One of the CHSL sponsors, Alliance Catholic Credit Union, in conjunction with their foundation, Alliance Catholic Foundation, is currently running their 7th Annual Live It. Show It. Share It. Scholarship Contest for students who will be attending a Catholic League high school in the 2023-2024 academic year.

They are giving away a total of $20,000 in scholarships. Details about the contest can be found at https://bit.ly/7thLISISI. The attached PDF contains information on the scholarship program and can be shared with students and families.

Ten (10) students will be awarded scholarships. One will receive a Grand Prize of $6,000, one $4,500, one $2,500 and seven will be awarded $1,000 toward their Catholic high school tuition for the 2023-24 academic year.

GOT THE MUNCHIES?

NJHS sponsor the snack store! It’s open between 7:15-7:30am, Mon-Fri. The prices of snacks will range from $.25-.50. A wide variety of snacks will be available such as Cheez-its, Fruit Roll Ups, pretzels, water, Gushers, and much more!!

ALL SCHOOL THANKSGIVING!!

Thank you, thank you, thank you, to our PTO, volunteers and donations, that made this years Thanksgiving a huge success. The kids got to enjoy all the best this Thanksgiving has to offer, from fried chicken, stuffing, green beans, deviled eggs, rolls, mashed potatos, pie and so much more.

OCTOBER STUDENT HIGHLIGHTS!!

PRE-SCHOOL:

London Allagreen- London is always sweet and kind to her friends! She is a great helper around the class and works hard on all her assignments and projects. London is always in a good mood and is ready for any new adventures! I am so glad to have London in my class for the second year now!


Madelyn LeTarte- Madelyn is quite but when she does talk she has the best stories! She’s funny and so sweet! She is kind, gentle and a wonderful sharer! Madelyn loves to learn new things and loves doing projects. Madelyn is easy going and flexible when things change in the class. Madelyn has been a true pleasure to have in class!



Parker Watson- Parker is so polite and thoughtful! He is sweet and kind to all his fiends and teacher. And he is also very funny, and tells the best stories! Parker likes to help the teachers and the students in class. He is a hard worker and loves to try new things. Parker is wonderful student and child, and I love having him in class!



KINDERGARTEN:

Edmund Cooper - is Kindergarten's Star Student of the month. Edmund is the eldest of two children. He is six years old, and his mother is an Alumni of Holy Cross. When asked what his favorite thing to do is, Edmund replied, "play video games". He also enjoys going to the book store. Cats are Edmund's favorite animals and hamburgers are his favorite food. When he grows up, he would like to be a police officer. Edmund's one wish is for a monster truck. He also enjoys playing with his friends here at school.


2nd Grade:

Nolan Dixon - is in the second grade. Nolan is a big helper in the classroom. He likes to help his classmates. Nolan's favorite food is chili dogs. His favorite color is dark teal and his favorite sport is baseball. He has a dog named Cashis. His favorite vacation was when he went to Montana with his family over summer. He got to hang out with his cousins. While in Montana he went to a softball game, played video games, and went to the beach. I'm so proud of Nolan, keep up the good work.


Liam Maykowski - is also in the second grade. Liam enjoys coming to school and spending time with his classmates. His favorite food is his step-dad's homemade spaghetti. His favorite color is red and he enjoys playing football and basketball. His favorite vacation was going to Disney World with his family. In Disney, Liam got to watch parades, and go on rollercoaster rides. I'm so proud of Liam, keep up the good work.


3rd Grade:


Sophia Boedeker - One of our star students for 3rd grade for October is Sophia Boedeker. When Sophia grows up she wants to be a police officer! Her favorite subject is science. Her favorite color is blue. Sophia is involved in cheerleading, her favorite part is flying…she loves it! When enjoying a snack, she loves to enjoy watermelon. We are so lucky to have Sophia here at Holy Cross!


Lara Cherro - Our other star student for 3 rd grade is Lara Cherro. Lara loves to play soccer her favorite position is forward. When she grows up, she wants to be a gymnast. Her favorite color is blue. Lara is an excellent student and her favorite subject is math. When she gets to have a special treat, she loves to have cookies. Holy Cross is so lucky that she is a part of our community!


4th Grade:

Theryn Snyder - is a hard working student who first came to Holy Cross as a second grader! In class, she LOVES to read and write. She is also very strong in her faith. She enjoys reading the intentions at mass and sings hymns beautifully. Outside of the classroom Theyrn is involved with fiddle club, gymnastics, and dance. In December she will perform as a mouse and bon bon for The Nutcracker Ballet Theater Company, at McMoran Theater.


5th Grade:

Hayden Borys - Hayden works hard to always make sure his work is done on time and done well. He is responsible and puts forth good effort. He also gets along well with others! Good job, Hayden!


Ella DeFauw - Ella always does her best no matter what she is working on. She is kind and humble and never has a mean word to say about anyone. She also listens and follows directions well. Keep it up, Ella!


6th Grade:

Shealyn Blanchard - Shea is a very hardworking, intelligent young lady, who strives to help wherever she can. She has an infectious smile and knows when it is time to work and when it’s time to have fun. She is caring and will always help others when they need it.


Kaiden Biebuyck- Kaiden is an outgoing, studious young man, who seems quiet, but knows how and when to have fun. While new to Holy Cross, it seems like he has always been with us. He gets along with everyone and steps up to help when needed.


8th Grade:

Abby Westrick - is an 8th grade student who has attended Holy Cross since the 6th grade. Abby loves sports and anything competitive. She is a great team player and leader. Abby has participated in basketball, volleyball, and cheerleading. Outside of school, Abby likes to hang out with her friends, snowmobiling, and boating. Abby plans on attending Cardinal Mooney after graduating from Holy Cross. Abby has a caring nature, and she is willing to help out when needed, even when not asked. Abby puts forth great effort in her academic studies, and she is willing to help others with their academics. This past school year, it has been a pleasure teaching Abby. I enjoy her humor, leadership qualities, and the effort she puts forth when tackling things that interest her.



Dylan Davenport - is being recognized for the month of October. Dylan has attended Holy Cross since preschool. Dylan has an exceptional talent for creative writing. He enjoys reading Steven King novels, especially The Shining. Dylan has participated in basketball, cross country, and track. He is also a member of the National Junior Honor Society. Dylan is also involved in boxing and thoroughly enjoys it. Dylan is a mature young man and sincerely cares about other people. I enjoy having conversations with Dylan and learning more about the things that interest him. Dylan plans to attend Cardinal Mooney after graduation from Holy Cross.
