Virtual Learning After Memorial Day

We are excited to share with you that our OASD elementary virtual learning format will shift following the Memorial Day weekend. In an effort to capture the joy of the final stretch of a school year while also attempting to replicate traditions and cherished activities your family can expect the following beginning May 26th-June 10th:

  • Like always, daily lesson plans per grade level via email and SEESAW.

    - These plans will include an expectation for daily independent reading, math Dreambox and a Virtual Enrichment opportunity for the entire family to enjoy.

  • Your student can expect that classroom teachers will maintain their regularly scheduled individual and class Zoom meetings and will host a final class meeting on June 10th.

  • Daily virtual enrichment experience - a link will be included in the daily plan

Are you asking yourself, “What in the world is a virtual enrichment opportunity?” We have coordinated with our specials teachers and groups within our Oconomowoc community to offer daily virtual enrichment experiences led by our specialists teams. All OASD elementary students will experience the same virtual enrichment experience, done at your own pace, making this a fun activity to do with your entire family.

Here’s a calendar of what to expect:

  • T May 26: “Sprouting Together”

  • W May 27: “Oconomowoc Public Library Summer Reading”

  • Th May 28: “Summer Safety Videos”

  • F May 29 - “ Ixonia Virtual Talent Show”

  • M June 1: No virtual learning day

  • T June 2: “Inventor’s STEM Fair”

Your partnership during the school closure is a gift we greatly appreciate. In return for your efforts to support and maintain a love of learning from home we offer you these opportunities to have some fun as we close out the 2019-2020 school year.

Mindful May

Our May PBIS Focus as we continue in our distance learning environment will be around Mindfulness, Movement, and Me Time. As we continue to be navigators in this new environment that we are in, we are all learning that balance with our life and our academics is essential for our well-being.

We have created a fun way to incorporate Movement, Mindfulness, and Me Time into our May calendars. We have both a BINGO board (below) and Mindfulness Randomizer (click HERE) with ideas to choose from every day. We would love if students would share their completed BINGO boards (see below) or share a picture of them doing an activity to either Seesaw or Google Classroom by May 29th.

Mr. Brezonick will continue doing virtual yoga lessons on Wednesdays at 1:00 p.m. for all students to join. Information will be shared in the Wednesday Learning Plans.

Each week Mrs. Behrens, Mrs. Lee and Mrs. Jens will have a tip on how to encourage parents and students to be mindful at home. Click the link below for this weekly tip.

2020/2021 PTO Board Announced!

The purpose of a PTO is to encourage parents to assist with various school activities, functions, and services, to foster a community atmosphere, to provide financial assistance where needs are identified within the school, and to support the mission and vision of the school. As your new board, we are super excited to implement and facilitate these things for Ixonia Elementary. Please welcome Katie Waldorf as Volunteer Coordinator! Jaclyn Kraft will take over as President, and Rebecca Zachow will remain Vice President. Mary Kate Head is going to remain Treasurer, and Missy Jacks will continue to be the Secretary. While we are fortunate to have dedicated volunteers who return, we also welcome new ones every year. We often strike up friendships, and enjoy getting to know one another! Our volunteers range from 4K to 4th grade parents, so it’s a great chance to get to know parents from other grades you may not have met otherwise.

We are still hoping to see new faces, and we are still in need of volunteers. New volunteers bring fresh ideas! Please let us know if you are interested in being involved! We could use help with event planning, recruiting ideas, fundraising efforts, and engaging families. Hope to hear from you soon! ixoniaelementarypto@gmail.com

IMPORTANT: Zoom Meeting Names

In an effort to keep our students safe during zoom meetings, we will not be admitting people to zoom meetings more than 10 minutes into the meeting UNLESS their device is identifiable. For instance, if it just says "iPhone," we will not admit that person because we don't know who they are.

If you have the opportunity to RENAME your zoom name upon entering, please do so. Or if you can change your iPhone or iPad settings to reflect your name or your child's name, that will help staff ensure that who they are admitting actually belongs in that call. Thank you!

Virtual Talent Show

Please watch the video below for information from "Super Scout" about this year's virtual talent show.

  • Videos can feature student talent in anything they are skilled at. Students should demonstrate their talent, but they can also describe their talent or how they learned it.
  • Max video length is 90 seconds.
  • Videos should be emailed to ixonia@oasd.org where they will be compiled in a larger video. These will be "showcased" the last week of school.
  • Submission date is Tuesday, May 26 @ 8:00 a.m.
