eLearning Opinions Sought

SCSD2 wants to know your opinions about your eLearning Day experience! Parents and guardians were surveyed. Teachers were surveyed. Now it is YOUR turn to say what you think. During homeroom today, please go to the survey link on the Canvas Community page and tell us what you think about the experience.

FREE Sports Physicals for 2018-2019

SCSD2 has partnered with Scott Memorial Hospital to offer FREE SPORTS PHYSICALS for SCSD2 Middle School and High School athletes! The free clinic will be held at Meyer Gym on June 4th, 8:30 AM-Noon. Save money and don't wait 365 days to get a physical from your family doctor in order for insurance to cover. Athletes are encourage to come according to the following schedule: Fall Sports - 8:30-10:00 am Winter Sports - 10:00-11:00 am Spring Sports - 11:00 am - Noon Multi-Sport athletes may chose which timeframe they want to come.

Athletes can find a download a copy of the form on the SMS web page or pick up one in the office. NOTE: HS and MS athletes use different forms. Eighth graders get a form from SHS or their web site. Fifth, sixth, and seventh graders use the form from the SMS web site or the SMS office!

Academic Award Program Invitations

Honor roll students in grades 6, 7, and 8 will be receiving invitations during homeroom today for the 2017-2018 Academic Award Program. The program will be held at SMS at 6:30 PM the night of May 31st. If you get an invitation today, please take it home to your parent/guardian. If you did not receive an invitation and you think you should be qualifying for an honor roll medal, see or message Ms. Nass.

Popsicles for Pets

The SMS Builders' Club invites you to participate in a fundraiser for the Humane Society, a non-profit, volunteer organization that helps cats and dogs find new homes and forever families. The Humane Society recently lost their cat adoption center building and must be relocated. Help us support and raise money for the Humane Society to buy a new building by coming by the main hallway before school on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday to order popsicles (50ยข each). Popsicles will be distributed during homeroom on Friday. Buy a popsicle for you. Buy one for a friend. Or just plain donate to this this organization in need!

Builders' Club Distinguished!

Congratulations to the SMS Builders' Club and leaders Ms. Sutton and Mr. Riggle for earning the Distinguished Club honor from Kiwanis International. The club was recognized for leadership and service to our school and community. Congrats!!


Elective course request forms for 2018-2019 for 6th and 7th graders need to be completed and returned to the SMS office by Monday, May 21st. Don't miss this chance to CHOOSE your elective. If you need a new copy of the form, swing by the office OR bring in any other paper with your choice and your parent's signature.

Spring pictures (or money) were due long ago. Are you good with that obligation? If not, return your pictures or bring your money to the office asap.

Library books are due to the Media Center by Friday, May 24th. Finish up your book challenge and get those books turned in on time!

iPads and chargers are due on Wednesday, May 30th. As you prepare to bid your iPad adieu, remember to put all critical content in your Drive account. iPads will be updated over the summer and there is no guarantee that content on your ipad will be saved. Students that fail to return functional original Apple chargers and functional covers will be billed for those things this summer.

Thursday, May 23th: SMS/SHS Choir Concert @ 7:00 PM at McClain Hall. Everyone is invited to this special vocal event! Admission is free.

Monday, May 28th: Memorial Day // No school

Wednesday, May 30th: iPad/Charger return day. Get your iPad-housed content into the cloud before you give up your iPad! Start now.

Thursday, May 31st: SMS Academic Award Night @ 6:30 PM in the West gym. 6th, 7th, and 8th-grade honor roll students and their families will be invited. Neck medallions will be awarded to students. Select 8th graders will give speeches. Invitations to this event will be distributed to students on May 18th.

Friday, June 1st: Last day of school! Spring Awards Assembly 9:15 AM. Eighth Grade "2022 Graduation Rehearsal Program" 1:00 PM.
