Another reminder: I will be holding Homework Help sessions on Tuesday's and Thursday's from 3:25-4:00pm. Just send me an email or call that day, if your child is staying for help! :)

This Week:

READING: We will be read a historical fiction story about a child immigrant from China. We will had great discussions about immigrants and how they have made it to America. We also briefly talked about refugees.


MATH: Students will took the Unit 1 test. They did great!


WRITING: We are continued to work on our sentence structure and creating paragraphs. Talk to your student about SPICY words and what a good, descriptive sentence looks like. We also talked about IDIOMS.


SOCIAL STUDIES: Students finished their Landform Project. The goal is for each student to be able to label major landforms and bodies of water


We had an amazing author, Julia Cook, visit. She read a few of her books. You should be receiving an order form in your child's Friday Folder.


Today we had our first theme day - Watermelon. We all had a great time!

Next Week:

READING: We will be reading a reader's theatre about Hispanic culture. We will also be reading a few other articles to gather more information. The students will be "performing" the reader's theatre in class on Friday.


MATH: Students will be learn how to multiply one digit by three digits this week. It will be a new skill and it will be different than how we learned it as kids. Please hang with us and allow your students to guide you on how it is done. There is a video at the bottom to explain.


WRITING: We will be moving onto persuasive writing. We will use a structure called "OREO" to organize our writing. O=Opinion R= Reasons E= Examples O= Opinion. It should be fun to see what they come up with.


Social Studies: We will be continuing to work on Map Skills and landforms.

  • It was so nice to see most of you at Back to School Night! I enjoyed talking with you. If you could not make it, please look in your child's Friday folder for some forms that I need back! :)
  • YAY! All students brought back their homework today!!! Please make sure you are looking over your child's homework and signing the front page.
