The Beinging of the taxes!
The British began taxeing the colonist when the British got in war debts. The four acts that taxed them were the Sugar Act, Quartering Act, Stamp Act, and the Townshend Act.
The Sugar Act
In 1764, the British Parliament passed the Sugar act which taxed the Spanish and the French molasses and sugar that the colonist bought. The reason the British taxed the colonist was because they had to pay off their war debts.
The Quartering act
The British passed the Quartering Act which made the colonist house 10,000 British troops for free without paying any rent or helping the families in any way.
The Stamp act
The Stamp Act passed the same year as the Quartering Act and required for the colonist to buy a british stamp for the paper they used and also the Stamp act meant for the colonist to pay taxes on newspaper, playing cards, calenders and other paper idems.
The Townshend act
In 1767, Townshend Act was passed. The act put taxes on tea, glass, lead, and paper
