Touch Typing
Communication Tool
This year I'm going to be using a group phone texting app called Remind. Parents and students sign up on my account and I can send group texts to remind everyone about fun activities, assignments, and even school closures. It is free and phone numbers are not shared, even with me. If you're interested, please sign up. I have different groups for each class, and the information is below. If you'd like to know more, check out the video below.
Book Projects
Today students should be bringing home a letter and a reading contract that explains the requirements of the assignment. Each student will be reading a book of his/her choice, producing some creative project that reflects the book, and then presenting an oral report to the class. All the details are included in the letter. Please talk this over with your student and sign the contract. We want to be sure that our families are aware of student plans. You will notice that we've had each student break down the big project into smaller, more manageable pieces.
Reading contracts are due next week. All contracts returned by next Monday, September 21, will earn five points extra credit. Contracts received later next week will receive partial credit of 20 points.
We are hoping that planning ahead will help all of our students be successful. You can help by encouraging your student to keep up on their reading goals and finishing their projects on time. Thanks in advance!
