Absent for the day: 12:15 pm
It is very important that your child is here on time, every day, when school is in session. A missed school day is a lost opportunity for students to learn. There is a direct correlation between students who attend school regularly and higher academic achievement levels. Here at ANCCS our motto is: Less than 8 is Great!
We know that absences are unavoidable. For instance, if a kid is sick it is best if they stay home. If your child is going to be absent for the day for any reason it's best to let us know by 10am so that we can mark their absence as excused.
Ways you can let us know are:
- Calling the office at 907-742-1370
- Using Parent Attendance in Q
It's OK to contact your student's teacher about attendance but it's not the teacher's job to notify the office. To be sure your student gets excused, contact the office to report the reason for your student's absence. The reason for the absence determines if the absence is excusable.
When your student is absent:
If a call was not made to the school, your child will be marked with an unexcused absence and an automated “robocall” attendance phone message will go out at 11am. to the primary contact number. The message will inform the parent/guardian that your child(ren) has been absent from one or more classes for the day. Unless the parent/guardian calls to excuse the absence, the absence will remain unexcused.
If your child is tardy (after 8:45 am) they must check in with the office prior to going to their class.
Please let us know if there is anything we can do to help with your student's attendance!
Early Dismissal
From this point onward, if you would like to pick up your child early from school it will be necessary to come into the office and sign them out. We will not be able to pull your kid from class until you arrive, so please plan accordingly. Also, keep in mind that East High gets out at 2pm and it's a little hectic out there around that time. There will be no early dismissal between 3:15 - 3:30.

Nurse's Corner
Thank you so much to all of our parents for getting immunizations done for school and for getting me Care plans and medication forms needed at school. All medications at school go through the nurse's office including cough drops. We have an Over-the-Counter medication form for kids that may need Tylenol, Ibuprofen, or other medications at school. Simply get ahold of me and I can send that form home. Medication can be brought to the nurse's office, labeled with student's name, and we can keep them here in case needed during this school year. Sometimes kids take antibiotics for a short period, those can also be given in school. Please contact me if short term medications are needed at school.
We are starting our school screening for vision, hearing, ht/wt, and color. Parents will hear from me about any screenings that do not come back within normal limits. Lion's Club will be doing vision photo screening for k-3rd grade here at our school on September 21st. Hearing and vision screening occurs for prek, k, 1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th, and any students new to district or referred by their teacher. These occur as time allows during the school day. ASD's goal is for them to be completed by the end of first semester.
Please know, you can call or email me about any concerns throughout the school year.
