Cumberland and Lincoln Prevention Coalition
Happy Thanksgiving!
The holiday season has arrived! And on this Thanksgiving, we are so very thankful for all of you that have made the Cumberland and Lincoln Prevention Coalition a household name in Prevention! We are looking forward to so much in the coming year, but, for now, we express our gratitude to you, and wish you and your family a happy & healthy Thanksgiving!
"As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them." _John F. Kennedy
A.T.I. (Above The Influence)
A.T.I. (Above the Influence)
Cumberland/Lincoln Prevention Coalition is thrilled to begin the "ATI" (Above the Influence) program at the Cumberland High School in Cumberland & Lincoln High School. The "TAG IT" campaign was a HUGE success at the Lincoln High School Homecoming dance. Over 70 students joined in the fun with our photo booth, adorning hats, glasses & props, and proudly displaying the influences they are above. Check out the photos from the event HERE and be sure to "Like" our Facebook page!
ATI “Above the Influence” is a place where teens can learn how to stand up to negative pressures and influences. ATI meets once a week, after school. Youth develop a media campaign to educate and address the negative pressures that they may be facing.. The purpose is to create awareness of the impact of drug abuse and negative pressures on young people. The more aware you are of the types of influence around you, the better prepared you will be to face them. Learn more about the program & check out their website HERE!
Let's C.H.A.T.!!
Do you know about C.H.A.T.?! C.H.A.T. (Communicating Healthy Alternatives to Teens) is an open forum for middle & high school students to meet & discuss sensitive issues teens may be facing, with peer support. The group meets every other Thursday at the Family Literacy Center in Manville. The group is lead by Pam Shayer, Director of the Lincoln Prevention Coalition & Karen Kruth, Student Assistance Counselor at Lincoln High School. Join us and be a part of the C.H.A.T.!!
World's Most Dangerous Leftovers!
The Thanksgiving meal will be over & soon you will be cleaning out the leftovers from the fridge. But what about the "leftovers" in your medicine cabinet?! Unused or expired prescriptions are the WORLD'S MOST DANGEROUS LEFTOVERS!
The towns of Cumberland and Lincoln are equipped with medication drop boxes. These boxes are accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. They are located within the town's police station.
And with the influx of visitors you may receive during this holiday season, it is always best to safe.
So..while you are busy cleaning out "the fridge", clean out the leftovers in the medicine cabinet too!
Family Winter Fun!
Looking for something FUN for the family during the holiday season? A new holiday adventure at Diamond Hill Park that will invite young explorers to navigate Tinsel Town in a search for Santa is being created by some of the same crew that put together the highly successful Haunted Hill last month.
It will be offered over eight weekend nights, Nov. 28 to Dec. 20.
Parks & Recreation Director Mike Crawley says they’ll reach a brand-new, much larger audience with a joyful experience compared with the limited audience that was beckoned to the Haunted Hill, which netted approximately $50,000 in October. The target audience for Winterfest is 12 years and younger.
Visitors to Winterfest will have a choice of a $10 entrance fee that includes the train ride or a $5 fee that does not, requiring a brief walk across the park to Mayor Scrooge’s house.
Winterfest will open Saturday, Nov. 28, at 5 p.m. and run Saturdays and Sundays through Dec. 20 at Diamond Hill Park, 4097 Diamond Hill Road.
Saturday hours are 5 to 9 p.m., and Sunday hours are 5 to 8 p.m.
The show dates are Nov. 28 and 29; Dec. 5, 6,12, 13, 19, 20.
