Term 3 - Issue 14 23rd September 2021
TERM 4 BEGINS MONDAY 11th OCTOBER
PRAYER
PRINCIPAL'S POST
Dear Parents & Caregivers,
We have made it to the end of Term 3! What a busy term is has been and some amazing things happening within our school and community. With the upcoming two week holiday break, no doubt children are looking forward to a break from school routines.
CONFIRMATION
Congratulations to our Confirmation candidates who received the Sacrament of Confirmation last Thursday at St Andrew's Parish. It was a very reverent occasion concelebrated by both Father Darek and Father Marian. The children were beautifully prepared and we wish them well as they enter the Catholic church as full adult members. Our thanks to Mrs Freeman, Mr Kinder, Mr Clarke and Miss Campbell for preparing the children so well and to Father Darek and Father Marian for their support and guidance.
ATHLETICS CARNIVAL
It was wonderful to see the great turn out last Friday for our annual athletics carnival from both children and parents. The weather turned out to be fantastic and the spirit in which the children participated could not have been better. The cheering and sportspersonship was outstanding and a wonderful reflection of our St Francis of Assisi values. Congratulations to Benedict Noorns (GREEN) for claiming the Athletics Shield, while Agnes Dwert (RED) took out the Spirit Shield. I was particularly pleased to see children supporting each other and their faction by remaining for the entirety of the day. As a school, we strongly encourage this as it highlights to children the importance of team and being part of something bigger, rather than just focusing on themselves as individual. Pleasingly, the feedback from staff, parents and volunteers about our Year 6 children, who were marshalling and organising their faction bays, was overwhelmingly positive. It is a credit to those Year 6 children for their fantastic attitudes and maturity in setting a great example for our younger children.
Thank you also to the parents who assisted, Rose Canzirri, Kylie Sibley, Danni Bakker and Kym Jacobs. Thank you to all the staff for their smooth coordination of the day and most importantly, Ms Hamilton for her efforts in putting the day together. Ms Hamilton highlights some of the Champion Awards later in the newsletter.
GRANDPARENTS DAY - MAKE-A-MOVE
Tomorrow, we celebrate the end of term with our annual Grandparents Day Arts Assembly. This year, the children have been busy putting together their individual and class dances thanks to Megan from Make-A-Move Performance Program. The disney theme has the children very excited and we are sure to see a fantastic performance from every class. Please refer to the note sent home via SeeSaw for the running of the morning.
COMMUNITY LUNCH
Complimenting our final performance for the term, our P&F are once again running the end of term Community Lunch. Parents are welcome to attend school and share in lunch with their children from 12:30pm. After lunch, children will be given the opportunity to have a play and parents are then welcome to sign out their child via the QR Code (this is NOT SafeWA). Please ensure you have a QR Reader on your mobile device to sign out your child - otherwise, please sign them out via the sheets outside the hall.
TERM 4 SUMMER UNIFORMS
I'm sure the children are just as excited as Mr Baker, as we move into Term 4 Summer uniform. This means no ties for the rest of the year! Below is a summary of the Summer Uniform requirements for the boys and girls. As always, to allow for the changeover, there will be a two-week transition period where both uniforms are acceptable. Should you require any uniform items, please contact the uniform shop via the details later in the newsletter.
ST FRANCIS OF ASSISI FEAST DAY CELEBRATIONS
The first Friday back at school, Friday 15th October, is our St Francis Feast Day. Please mark this date in your calendars as we will be celebrating with a school mass, followed by our Mission Fete. The day will end with some teacher v student competition. A SeeSaw message will be sent out as a reminder.
TERM 4 IMPORTANT DATES
Attached below are the important religious, sporting and school events for Term 4. Please note any dates that may be applicable to you and your children. The LIVE Calendar link below is the most up-to-date reflection of school events and parents are encouraged to check this regularly via our school website.
At the end of each term, I am extremely proud to see what our children and staff have achieved over the previous 10 weeks. From the classroom, to the sporting field, to the wider community, there is much to celebrate after a very busy term. This is not possible without the knowledge, support and contribution of our parent community. Thank you to staff, parents and children for a great term and wishing all families a restful holiday break. For those of you lucky enough to get to Optus on Saturday - enjoy!!!!
Happy holidays and we look forward to a healthy and happy return for all on Monday, 11th October.
Best wishes
Jason Baker
Principal

STUDENT SPOTLIGHT!
KAMRON MAKAWA (2W)
Kamron was very excited to participate in a basketball clinic last week and was very fortunate to meet Bryce Cotton from the Perth Wildcats! Kamron is a budding young basketballer who is often found shooting hoops at recess and lunch with his classmates. Hopefully, Bryce taught Kamron that sharp snatch-back crossover! Who knows, maybe it's Kamron playing for the Wildcats in the future and a young St Francis student asks to get a photo with him!
