5th Graders Participate in Law Day
The Essex Vicinage, in partnership with the Essex County Bar Association, the New Jersey State Bar Foundation and the Essex County Sheriff’s Office held its annual Law Day celebration on Friday, May 4 in recognition of this year’s theme, "Separation of Powers: Framework for Freedom." The celebration began with countywide mock trial events. A total of 33 Essex County Superior Court judges visited local schools to lead the students through a fictional court case and to discuss the Law Day theme. Attorneys and sheriff’s officers accompanied the judges. This year’s Law Day program reached students at 35 schools.
