OLVCS Updates
March 24, 2023
Dear Families and Friends of Our Lady of Victory Catholic School,
Despite some technical difficulties, our 4th graders did a wonderful job in opening our Mass this morning in song. We were blessed with their participation in the other supporting ministries of the Mass, also. Thank you to Ms. Capozzi, Mrs. Davis, Ms. Gorzelnik, and Mrs. Weidenhof for preparing them for this celebration. Father George spoke about the tradition of covering statuary at the 5th Sunday of Lent and its roots in the Jewish practice mourning called sitting Shiva. The covering of statues is a solemn reminder that though we anticipate Easter, our Lord endured incalculable sufferings for our redemption.
We will not have school Mass next Friday morning, but we will have our final Stations of the Cross at 1:30pm on the 31st. All are welcome to join us.
We will not have confessions during the school day this Lent, but we encourage everyone who wishes to receive the Sacrament of Penance and Reconciliation attend one of the Penance services that will be taking place in our area or one of our regularly scheduled parish confession times. Please see the parish bulletin for details.
With Easter approaching, I also wanted to remind everyone that we will not be in session April 6, 7, or 10. Looking further ahead, we will have a Virtual Day on May 15 so that our teachers may participate in training.
As always, please check out the rest of this newsletter for tons of information about upcoming events and important dates. Have a great weekend and God bless!
Sincerely,
Jim Hoy
