Rock Cycle Description
The rock cycle basically represents a rocks "life". A rocks "life" can start at any point in the rock cycle. There are 3 types of rocks in the rock cycle: igneous, metamorphic, and sedamentary.
An Example for Each of the Three Types
Igneous - Obsidian
Obsidian is classified as an igneous rock because it is mostly extrusive. It is formed by felcic lava that has cooled rapidly with little crystal growth. It is usually found in any place that has expierienced a rhyolitic eruption.
Metamorphic - Slate
Slate is classified as a metamorphic rock because of it's smooth dull surfaces. It is derived from a shale-type sedimentary rock formed from clay or volcanic ash. It is mainly found in Northern Wales.
Sedimentary - Flint
Flint is classified as a sedimentary rock because a microcrystalline rock. It is formed from the remains of tiny sea creatures. It can be found in Michigan, USA.
