The function of the Muscular system.
The Muscular system is responsible for the movement of the human body. Each of the muscles are a discrete organ constructed of skeletal muscle tissue, blood vessels, tendons, and nerves.
3 types of muscle tissue
The 3 types of muscle tissues are cardiac, smooth, and skeletal.
Muscular systems disorders
- Inflammatory myopathies (including polymyositis)- which is characterized by inflammation and progressive weakening of the skeletal muscles. Signs and symptoms for Inflammatory myopathies are just weakness in your muscles. There is no treatment for Inflammatory myopathies but you can cure the symptoms by, options include medication, physical therapy, exercise, heat therapy (including microwave and ultrasound), orthotics, and assistive devices, and rest.
- Dermatomyositis- which is polymyositis accompanied by a skin rash. The most obvious signs and symptoms are a skin rash on the face, chest, nails, and eyebrows that appear red or violet. There are no treatments for Dermatomyositis but physical and mental rest can improve your chances of it worsening.
- Inclusion body myositis- which is characterized by progressive muscle weakness and wasting. IBM primarily affects men, although women can be affected. It occurs mainly in those older than 50. It begins with weakness in the wrist and fingers and the front of the thigh, gripping and frequent stumbles are also symptoms. Early anecdotal reports documented the failure of patients to respond to steroids, methotrexate, azathioprine, and cyclophosphamide o respond to steroids, methotrexate, azathioprine, and cyclophosphamide
