Important...sensitive information
Dear Families,
You may be aware of the popular Netflix original series, 13 Reasons Why, that many of our young people have watched since its release on March 31st. The fictional series revolves around 17-year old Hannah Baker, who takes her own life and leaves behind audio recordings for 13 people who she says in some way were part of why she killed herself.
The content includes mature and sensitive topics such as suicide, bullying, rape, and drunk driving. Because of the complex issues, mental health professionals have encouraged parents and guardians to discuss the series with their children.
We have information about the series, discussion points, warning signs of suicide, and links to mental health resources on our Student Services website.
As always, please know our counselors and school professionals are here for support.
Scholastic Book Fair
The Scholastic Buy One, Get One Free book fair has arrived at Jamison! The book fair is under way and is being held during school hours Monday, May 1st- Friday, May 5th (closed Thursday). Feel free to join your child to shop during their class' scheduled time and/or attend Family Night which is Tuesday, May 2nd from 6-8pm.
Scholastic All for Books Coin Collection
Thank you for participating in the Scholastic All for Books Coin Collection by sending in your coins! Jamison was able to collect $520.00 for our teacher’s to select new books for their classrooms! Scholastic will also be matching this amount to help support school’s in need of reading materials and reading programs! Way to go Jamison!
Library Book Care and Water Bottles
Library Book Care and Water Bottles
As warmer weather is approaching, please be mindful that your child’s water bottle/drink is not kept in the school bag with library books. Please have your child carry their water bottle separately, place it in an outside mesh pocket of the bookbag, or help protect library books in a large sealed ziplock bag in the backpack in order to hopefully avoid a wet library book! Thank you, Mrs. Salter, Jamison Librarian
Book Dedications
Library Book Dedications
Book Dedications make a great gift that will last for years to come! Book dedications make a great end of the school year, retirement, or graduation gift for students and teachers all while helping to support the Jamison Library!
What happens when you dedicate a book?
* A personalized bookplate is permanently placed in the book
* The book is presented to your child, teacher or the individual being honored
* The honoree is the first to check the book out from the library
* The dedication will be acknowledged in our school newsletter
If you are interested in supporting the Jamison Library, complete the Book Dedication form, which can be found on the Jamison website, and return it to school with $17.00 included. Questions? Contact Mrs. Tiffany Salter, Librarian, at tsalter@cbsd.org.
