Good evening Centerview families,
I hope you all enjoyed the three-day weekend and were able to take some time to honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
“I have a dream…that one day little black boys and black girls will be able to join hands with little white boys and white girls as brothers and sisters…I have a dream today.” Dr. King spoke these famous words in 1963.
Martin Luther King, Jr. Day is a national holiday and the reason why students and staff in Spring Lake Park Schools and across the country were home on Monday. On this day and beyond, we celebrate the life and the dreams of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. for his vision for freedom, opportunity and justice for all.
As a Centerview staff, we look forward to increasing our connection and engagement with students and families to ensure equitable learning for each of our students.
This week, learning continues despite the latest challenges we face with COVID-19. We continue to successfully match SLP staff from across the district with opportunities to fill needs our buildings are experiencing due to higher staff absences. We’re grateful to have a team – at Centerview and across the district - to support in-person learning. We also appreciate the collective efforts of our community to do everything we can to provide a safe place for students to learn and teachers to teach.
As this current surge continues (hopefully peaking VERY soon), there are no perfect solutions. We remain committed to doing everything we can to keep Centerview open so students can continue to directly engage with teachers to learn and have access to essentials like nutritious meals.
Next week, we kick off the kindergarten experience for students joining us next fall. If you have a kindergartener who will join us next fall or know a family who does, please join us next Thursday, January 27, 5:30-7 p.m. Kindergarten Kickoff is for students and their families and a great time for us to get to know each other.
As always, if you have questions or need clarity as we move forward, please give me a call at your convenience.
Take care,
Mike
It’s time to start planning for the 2022-2023 school year!
