Rawson Elementary School's Interim Newsletter
Edition #5: Some final reminders...
Welcome to our final Rawson Hybrid Chronicle, Edition #5. The Chronicle is dedicated to a few reminders as we prepare for Wolf Cohort A to come to school on Monday morning, October 12, 2020! ... and Wolf Cohort B coming in on Wednesday morning, October 14th!
In this edition you find reminders about:
- In-person School Days
- Arrival / Dismissal Routines
- Safety Requirements
In-Person School Days!
On in person, at school days, students will follow a daily schedule similar to our normal school year. Please watch for updates to the individual classroom daily schedule for in person, at school days to come from your child's teacher. Our in person, at school school days will run from 8:30 - 2:30 Monday through Thursday.
On asynchronous days, you can expect that students will have independent work that can be completed outside of school and submit to your child's classroom teacher at your convenience. In addition to the asynchronous work, students will also take part in virtual lessons in the areas of Art, Music, Physical Education and Library.
Please note the schedule for asynchronous days is determined by cohort however, every student will be engaged in asynchronous learning on Fridays.
Chromebooks:
Chromebooks will continue to be needed on in person, at school learning days as well as asynchronous, at home learning days. This will require transportation of the Chromebook between home and school. To aide in this transportation, the district will be issuing every student a carrying case that is specifically designed for use with Chromebooks. We will be distributing Chromebook cases on your child's first in-person school day during the week of October 12.
If you are interested in purchasing the district's Chromebook insurance, you can do so in the Infinite Campus Parent Portal under "Fees". The cost of the insurance is $25.
Arrival and Dismissal Routines
Morning Drop Off
The safest place to drop children off in the morning is our supervised curbside drop off. This is located on Rawson Avenue between 14th Street and our driveway entrance. This area will be supervised from 8:20 - 8:30 a.m. each school day.
Arrival
We will be instituting a "soft start" to the school day. As children arrive between 8:20 and 8:30 they will be admitted to the school through an assigned entrance and proceed directly to their class. Your child is assigned an entrance based on their classroom teacher assignment. Please review the image below for more information.
Dismissal:
Due to the need for physical distancing, we will be using a staggered dismissal process. Students will use the same entrance for dismissal as they used for arrival. Our staggered dismissal schedule is as follows. Please identify your child's classroom teacher's name, door assignment, and dismissal time.
We are also highly encouraging you to create a specific meeting location to meet with your child(ren) after school. This will aide in the dismissal process.
Safety! Keep our Wolves safe!
- Every student (parent) and staff member will be required to self assess for COVID related symptoms prior to coming to school. If your child is showing any illness based symptoms, please contact our school office to report your child's absence. 414-766-2904 or Rawson@sdsm.k12.wi.us
- Any one on school property and in school buildings is required to wear an appropriate face mask. Face covering should be disposable or washable and completely cover the mouth and nose. Face masks should fit snugly - like a hug on your face(!) - and should secure behind the ears or with a tie. It is also highly recommended to send a few extra face masks to school for your child as needed. (Resource: How to Wear a Face Mask, CDC)
- Students nor staff will be sharing any school supplies. So please don't forget to buy your child's school supplies. We will definitely need those due to this mitigation strategy. School Supply List: https://bit.ly/3cF1N8B
