Principal's Message...
Happy New Year, Sunnyside family! It's hard to believe we're almost halfway through the school year already, but in just a couple short weeks we'll be there. It's amazing to watch our young learners here at Sunnyside grow by leaps and bounds over the course of a school year, and we at Sunnyside appreciate all the hard work you all do at home to help your child grow and achieve.
At Red Wing Public Schools, our success is built upon the involvement of our schools and community. Currently, the district is in the middle of a strategic planning process, defining our vision for students and making a plan to bring that vision to life. As we continue to move forward in this process, we continue to need your input. To that end, you are invited to our second public session of RWPS’ strategic planning process on Thursday, February 1 from 5:30- 8:30 in the Courtyard Café at the High School.
The purpose of this next step is to review our Strategic Directions and Visions Cards, with the intention of identifying specific strategies we could deploy in order to get to vision. During this event you will have an opportunity to share your ideas, while also hearing the ideas of others from throughout the community. Your ideas will be used by the District Leadership in the development of plans for the next three to five years. The evening will start at 5:30pm with dinner. At 5:45pm, we will begin the program with an overview of the Strategic Directions and Vision Cards. We will then break into small groups to discuss what could be done if we work together!
If you are interested and able to attend, please RSVP to Glenda Wersal at 651-385-4500 or ggwersal@rwps.org to help us plan for refreshments and space. Thank you for your support of the Red Wing Public Schools. We look forward to seeing you on February 1st!
Mike Pagel
Principal

Crayola Colorcycle Reminder
Don't forget, Sunnyside participates in Crayola's Colorcycle program. We collect used markers of all types! The markers are sent to a facility where they will be converted into clean fuel. This fuel can be used to power vehicles, heat homes, cook meals and more!
Please help support our efforts by sending your kids in with any used markers you may have around the house (all brands!) All types including highlighters, Sharpies, and dry erase. Your child can simply give markers to his/her teacher, who will deposit them in the collection box in the main office. Thanks!
