Grandparents/Special Friends Day!
Grandparents/Special Friends Day: Grandparents/Special Friends Day is Friday October 14th from 9:30-10:45am. Your child may invite his/her grandparent or grandparents and special friends this day. They will have a chance to chat with Mr. Bjerken in the cafeteria and then head to our class to spend some awesome time with your child. More details will come but let me know if you have any questions.
What did we learn this week?
Writing: We have been working on our beginning strokes in our handwriting. The students have also been learning how to write their name beginning with an uppercase and ending with lowercase letters.
Phonics: We finished meeting all of our zoo phonics friends and learned that each friend has a favorite letter. This will help students with beginning, middle and ending sounds as they begin to write sentences.
We also learned the poem "Humpty Dumpty" and the word "the." We also learned what a rhyming word is and a few songs to remember them by.
Math: We began subitizing (looking at a group of numbers/objects and knowing the number without counting). We also worked on finger flashing and numbers 1-10. We did some pattern clapping and fun songs as well.
