GREETINGS FROM PRINCIPAL FERGUSON!

Once again, we are recognizing our "Students of the Month" and in this newsletter we are featuring our April "Student of the Month" selections. I am so proud of all of these hard working students as they have been modeling excellent leadership!

VIRTUAL MUSIC SHOWCASE FOR K-3 STUDENTS
This year we are releasing our Crosby Elementary Virtual Music Showcase on May 3rd. A YouTube link will be provided for all families, and you will be able to view it anytime and from anywhere.
It was a difficult decision to keep the showcase virtual after we were starting to allow more events in person. Our planning of the virtual event started last semester when we were unable to host events in person. The video includes the musical experiences our students have been having all school year during their weekly music classes.
Due to the number of students in our school, it was not possible to have a concert in the gym with all grade levels present on the same night. This YouTube video will be a wonderful way to share the music showcase with all family and friends, and you can watch it as often as you would like.
Moving forward, the four in person concerts are on the calendar for next year, and each grade level with perform on their own date.
Thank you for understanding and enjoy the Music Showcase!
ART WALK & BOOK FAIR FAMILY NIGHT
Families will have the opportunity to walk through the path of amazing artwork by each of our Crosby Artists. The artwork will be on display throughout the hallways, and will lead to the Scholastic Book Fair in the Gym. The Book Fair will be a "Buy One Get One Free" Book Fair so this will be a great time to stock up on books for summer reading.
We will also have the Kona Ice Cream truck on the playground and all purchases made will benefit our school.
It will be a wonderful evening event to spend together, and we look forward to seeing you there!
COUNSELING & CHARACTER EDUCATION CORNER ~ MRS. KORTNI SPAULDING & MRS. ALLISON ALTMANN
Hello Crosby Families!
What is Your Superpower?
During the month of April, we have been celebrating Autism Awareness Month by learning about the many strengths of autism. Did you know that those of us on the spectrum of autism often possess amazing strengths, such as being able to notice intricate patterns, great attention to small details, sophisticated problem solving strategies and/ or mathematical skills, as well as excellent memory skills? These are highly sought after strengths in many work place settings! Click HERE for a fascinating article that discusses some amazing people with autism and the many amazing contributions that they have made to society!
It is enlightening to look at the many strengths we possess as human beings and to celebrate what makes us all unique and special. Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is another diagnosis that has many strengths! Did you know that those of us with ADHD are often very creative, resilient, possess great conversation skills, are able to hyperfocus on important projects, and often have an abundance of energy? These are stellar qualities in many workplace environments!
Click here to learn more about how to tap into the strengths that stem from embracing who we are no matter what our brain type might be. We all have superpowers, and it is important for us to recognize that we do not all need to be “good” at the same things in life. Our world is made up of so many unique learning styles, interests, strengths, and weaknesses! We are made to work together and to tap into each other’s strengths!
As always, please reach out to us if you have any questions.

Car Riders: To ensure the safety of our students, parents must have a car rider tag hanging from their rearview mirror. If a parent does not have a tag they will be asked to park and go to the office to show identification, and sign the student out.
Additional car rider tags are available in the office. Families may request 2 car rider tags to be assigned to them for multiple vehicles.
Only individuals listed as emergency contacts or custodial parents may pick up students from the car rider line, unless there has been an arrangement made with permission for another adult to pick up the student.
Students in grades K, 1, and 2 will exit Door 2 when staff calls students by radio.
Car riders in grade 3, and any younger siblings, will exit Door 7.
All car riders will be held indoors until their driver approaches the front of the car line and called by radio.
Parents must remain in cars when picking up students. Parents will not be permitted to walk up to the door to pick up their student. They will be directed to the office to sign students out as an office pick up.
