The Tiger in You...September 10, 2017
Over the last few months, I have been learning about the brain and examining instructional strategies to enhance student achievement. In my research, I found that there are certain qualities (i.e. safety and security, nourishment, framework, visual, verbalize, movement, music, novelty) that are paramount in the learning process. My research highlighted the benefits of writing daily, and the impact it has on the learning process.
As I visited classrooms over the last two weeks, I am so appreciative of the purposeful teaching I observed and how you engaged the brain. There is no doubt that incorporating certain strategies can improve student engagement and result in higher achievement. Let me challenge you to incorporate a minimum of two new strategies from 20 Strategies on How to Engage Students, to enhance student achievement.
The first two weeks have been amazing. Thank you for bringing your energy and passion, making relevant connections and building positive relationships to help all students succeed. Clearly, brains are not fixed, so we must be willing to incorporate practices to engage all learners.
