Our Mission
Our Beliefs
We believe students excel when...
- Curriculum is challenging and progressive;
- Actively engaged in the learning process;
- All have an equal opportunity to learn;
- Learning is a shared responsibility;
- Held to clearly defined, high expectations; and
- All are accepted, valued, and safe.
Celebrations!
We also celebrated our awesome secretaries recently for Administrative Assistants Day. The amount of work that takes place behind the scenes is immeasurable, and these ladies do it with a smile. We thank you for all you do! On Wednesday, we will celebrate Nurse Jasmine on National Nurse's Day. She, too, continues to go above and beyond for our pirate learners and teachers alike. DES is lucky to have such hard-working staff manning the front of our pirate ship. Thank you, ladies!
And last, but certainly not least, we will celebrate our amazing instructional staff this week with Teacher Appreciation Week. I continue to be in awe of the manner in which you all have transitioned to this type of teaching and learning. Our students are so lucky to have teachers that are committed to ensuring their continued success. We will reap these benefits next year as we will have fewer learning gaps to fill. My heart is so sad that we won't have our precious students with us this week to celebrate your awesomeness. I am hopeful that you will feel just how much you are appreciated, even if it is from a distance. Thank you for all you do each and every day! We wouldn't be where we are without your consistent love and support of our students. We truly do want you to "have it all"!

PeLA Week 5
Watch your calendar invites for grade-level meetings that will be set up to discuss promotion/retention. Refer back to the Grading FAQ newsletter that was sent last week. I have attached it here again for your reference. Final grades are due May 15.
Please be sure to upload your paper packet documents to the Google Drive by tomorrow morning. Parapros that are coming to help make copies, please plan to come around 9:30. Our parents have been very appreciative of the opportunity for students to complete paper packets. The work that has been turned in so far can be found in your box. We will continue to let the work sit for up to 5 days before handling it as the virus can live on paper for up to that long.
