Principal's Message
This report is issued by the School Improvement Council for Sneed Middle School. It highlights pertinent information regarding our goals for improving student achievement and other accomplishments during the 2020-2021 school year. Our highly qualified staff continuously strive to exceed expectations and make “Simply the Best” much more than just a school motto, but a way of life at Sneed Middle School.

To provide educational opportunities and support to equip our students with the skills and knowledge needed to perform at their optimal level.
Sneed’s School Renewal Plan Performance Goals
Throughout this school year, Sneed Middle School has implemented strategies to increase math achievement for students in Grades 7 and 8:
- Hired a math interventionist
- Monitored student progress using the math link-It benchmarks
- Squire Academy was implemented as an afterschool online tutoring program
- Purchased software
- Provided professional development for teachers
- Maximized instructional time
Our school has implemented strategies to increase English Language Arts achievement for students in Grades 7 and 8:
- Hired an Instructional Coach
- Hired an ELA interventionist
- Monitored student progress using the ELA link-It benchmarks
- Implemented Squire Academy as an after school online tutoring program
- Purchased software
- Provided professional development for teachers
- Maximized instructional time
Our school has executed a plan to improve communications with Home-School relations for all our families:
- Implemented consistent parent communication about events and programs throughout the year
- Hosted parenting workshops (virtually) and other events as allowed due to Covid 19

Sneed Recognition
- We are proud to recognize Mrs. Lynn Howard for being elected as the Teacher of the Year for 2020-2021 school year; Glen Krohn 4H Volunteer of the Year for SC; and she achieved Journeyman Level Certification as a South Carolina State Master Beekeeper.
- The following teachers have been recognized as Teachers of the Month at Sneed: Ms. Brandy Montgomery, Ms. Ellen Knight, and Mr. Grayson Cribb.
- Ms. Maxzine Livingston was recognized as the 2020 South Carolina Outstanding Regular Educator of the Year.
- Ms. Melissa Johnson received a Donor's Choose Project for art materials valued at $200.00.
- Coach Thomas Rezzuti is the 2021 Pee Dee Conference Coach of the Year.
Student Recognition and Achievements
- The following students have been chosen to participate in Horizons 2 Program this summer: Jayden Blakely, Annie Eliason, and Meagan Goodman.
- Yulia Prokofyev presented work at the SCAEA Eastern Region: Youth Art Month virtual art show.
- The following students placed in the 2021 Eastern District and SCBDA Region Bands: Nathaniel Bruce, Zoey Marshall, Alissha McCann, Ashlyn Tessman, and Fabien Wilson.
- Boys' Basketball Team - District Tournament Champions
- Baseball Team - Pee Dee Conference Regular Season Champions
- Five student athletes participated in the Middle School Leadership Summit sponsored by the High School League -Jeremy Gray, Tiverly Gray, Allie Higgs, Dalton Mitchell, and Nataleigh Palmer.
Junior Scholars
We are proud to recognize our Junior Scholars. They were eligible based on the following criteria:
- Score 550 or higher on the Evidence-Based Reading and Writing portion of the PSAT/NMSQT; or
- Score 530 or higher on the Mathematics portion of the PSAT/NMSQT; or
- Participate in Duke University’s Talent Identification Program (TIP) during his/her seventh- grade year, met the eligibility requirements as outlined by that program, and be invited to attend either the State or Grand Recognition Ceremonies.
