Parent Information Exchange Meeting
PIE is an opportunity to have a discussion about the issues that matter most to you as parents in Sudbury Public Schools, such as new school start times for the 2020-21 school
year, the proposed budget, and more. The next event will be held in the Superintendent’s Conference Room in the Fairbanks Building on December 5th at 5:00 PM.
Sudbury Public Schools to host informational session on Vaping Prevention
SUDBURY -- Superintendent Brad Crozier announces that members of the community are invited to attend a presentation next month on youth vaping.
WHEN:
Monday, Dec. 9, at 6:30 p.m.
WHERE:
Curtis Middle School
WHAT:
Parents are encouraged to attend a presentation by Mary Cole, Program Coordinator of the Greater Boston Tobacco-Free Community Partnership. The Tobacco-Free Community Partnership is dedicated to educating residents and decision-makers in cities and towns across the Commonwealth, updating them on the impacts of tobacco use in all of its forms, as well as the most effective strategies for curbing tobacco use in their communities.
Cole will highlight the dangers of e-cigarettes and other emerging tobacco trends, and share her insight on the tactics the nicotine industry uses to attract young customers.
“We are taking a proactive approach to teen tobacco use -- with an emphasis on vaping -- districtwide, and making sure parents are informed and have the knowledge they need to help keep these dangerous products away from their kids,” Superintendent Crozier said. “I encourage everyone to plan to attend this informative and engaging event.”
According to the 2018 MetroWest Adolescent Health Survey, 97 percent of Curtis students in grades 6-8 report no electronic vapor usage in their lifetime. Assemblies for students about vaping will be held on Dec. 5 for each grade level.
For those who cannot attend, the presentation will be filmed by Sudbury TV and made available on-demand online.
