Principal's Message

We are down to single digit numbers as we only have 9 days of school left! We have almost wrapped up all of our spring assessments and can't wait to celebrate our successes! Students learned at the end of the day today that WE MET OUR SCHOOL MAP GOAL which means we will be having our firetruck fun next week! We are so proud of their hard work throughout this entire school year. They set goals and worked to reach those goals. It was a true team effort with students doing their part to put their best foot forward each day and teachers and support staff doing their part to support students in meeting the high expectations set for them. A huge shout out to all!

Next week is a busy week!

Wednesday is FIELD DAY! Please see below for the complete schedule and the signup for helping at Field Day. Reminder about sunscreen: We recommend that sunscreen is applied prior to students coming to school. If students bring sunscreen to school, they can apply it to themselves but please note that we are not allowed to apply sunscreen for students and students cannot share sunscreen. • 3rd - green

  • 4th -blue

Field Day is coming up!

Hey parents, we would love to have you volunteer at our Field Day! We will have Field Day on Wednesday, May 17 with our rainout day being Thursday, May 18.

Field Day 2023

At the end of the scheduled activities (at 2:45), we will plan to have an all school tug-a-war and you may get to participate so please consider coming! We will have each class battling another class and the class winner will go against staff. If time allows, we can have the winner go against the parents so you won't want to miss!

*Participation will of course be voluntary and we will not hold the tug-a-war if it's too muddy.

5th grade presents at BOE meeting

Some of our 5th grade students, along with Mrs. Eaves and Mrs. Zimmerschied, presented to the Board of Education on Monday evening. They did an excellent job of telling how our garden came to be from the vision to the present day. They shared how the garden has incorporated lessons to help educate our students, how others have benefited from donations from our harvesting, and they even brought goodies from our garden to share with the BOE members and administration. In addition, we were able to present Mr. Broxterman with a "GRE Volunteer of the Year" award as a way of saying thank you for all he has done to help make our garden so successful!

Sunflower Summer 2023: Free Access to over 100 Kansas Attractions and More!

Greetings GRE Families:

We are very excited to share with you an opportunity for your children and your family to experience over 100 Kansas attractions, educational activities, and fun events at no cost from Friday, May 26th through Sunday, August 13th. “Sunflower Summer” is in its third year and is a program that was developed by the Kansas State Department of Education (KSDE) for families to have fun and exciting educational experiences together in as many of the participating Kansas attractions and locations as possible during the summer.

Please visit http://sunflowersummer.org/ frequently to learn more about this year’s expanded programming options and review the “Participating Locations” section of the page. Attractions, activities, and events from across Kansas include zoos, museums, historic landmarks, libraries, day camps, outdoor events, and more.

The updated App for iPhone and Android will be available on Friday, May 26, 2023, to download to your phone or tablet from Apple App Store or Google Play App Store. Anyone who kept the app on their device from last summer does not need to download it again; instead, they will receive an electronic notice to simply update their app to the 2023 version at that time. An adult will need to register their family members and include their county and school district. Then, families may begin planning their summer fun and acquiring free venue tickets as needed using the app and all of its features!

Thank you for your time and consideration of this opportunity!
