What should I be doing now to get ready for college?
10th grade
- Take on leadership roles in clubs or sports and become involved in community service.
- Begin researching different colleges and find out what the admissions requirements are.
11th grade
- Grades, grades, grades! Junior year is the last chance you have to bring up your GPA before applying to college next fall.
- Visit, visit, visit! This is the year to really research and visit different schools. There are many virtual and in-person opportunities. Take advantage of college rep visits, open houses, and college fairs.
- Take on leadership roles if you haven't already and invest time in developing relationships with teachers, coaches, and your counselor. They'll be writing reference letters for you next year.
Just for Juniors!-CCP opportunities
Are you interested in taking college classes (CCP) at Durham Tech this spring? If you will be a new CCP student, the first step is attending a mandatory info session. This meeting is for you and your parents and will be held virtually during the following dates and times:
- Sept. 17, 1:30 pm
- Sept. 28, 4:30 pm
- Oct. 7, 6 pm
Please register for these events here.
