This will continue as in the past with another new name "Sew....It's Friday" you will have the option most months to continue your sewing on Saturday. Since we are sewing upstairs, no registration is needed.

"Here' What's New"

- Happy Hour - January 14th from 5 PM to 6 PM. So..... what is Happy Hour? Join Julie via zoom https://unl.zoom.us/j/98668451918 at 5:00 PM to be the first to experience what is "new" in the shop. The plan is to hold a special zoom connection once a month (on the second Friday of the month) so that customers can see what is new and ask questions live.
- 12 Months of Christmas - Guess what Julie's favorite holiday is... yep it is Christmas and giving is one of her favorite things to do. Throughout the shop on the 25th of each month we will be celebrating Christmas with free patterns. In 2022 Calico Cottage will be featuring Christmas stockings. Julie's Xpression will be featuring beaded snowflakes. Blu J will be creating Christmas cards. Plum Nelly will be featuring mug rugs/cocktail coasters. Be sure to stop by on the 25th of each month for your freebies.
It's a secret! But I am not very good with secret's! So.... it's a wrap! Shhhhush!
Hey, a little birdy told me the wrap is going to be an on-going series for 2022. A "new" pillow wrap will be available at Calico Cottage on the first Wednesday of each month.

An Illusions Sew Along - Block of the Month starting in February!
The Illusions Quilt, designed by Scott Flanagan, is bound to appeal to just about anyone who loves to sew beautiful designs with lovely fabric and color. The new 2022 release from Scott and Banyan Batiks is designed as a block-of-the-month type of project. So, whether you are an experienced quilter with several projects in the works or a new quilter just getting your toes wet, the pacing of the project may be just perfect for you.
Calico Cottage is all in on this project providing the kits, supplies, and support with a year-long sew along. Lorinda Bailey, our resident quilting expert will be our fearless leader and facilitator for the project. Our sew along will occur on the first Friday of each month at 10:00 am beginning February 1st. Lorinda will be sharing tips and covering the different options for the quilt.
Last week I talked to Lorinda about the Illusions Quilt and our upcoming sew along. Quilters, by their nature, are creative people and I asked her what drew her to this particular project. She said, “The blocks are so unique. The two row borders inside each block makes the pattern a Wow!
The kit and pattern are designed to be a queen spread or king topper (88" x 112"). There is also an option to divide the blocks and make two twins or a throw.
I asked Lorinda what skill level a quilter would need to successfully complete the quilt. She replied, “A comfortable beginner would enjoy this pattern. It was written with a variety of techniques and options for simpler piecing. It’s always great to try something new, and it’s only one block. Quilters, this quilt isn’t hard, but it will take a little more time than just strip piecing."
With the right tools, 3 hours should be enough time to complete a block.” She also recommends reading through the pattern before beginning. You can save time by being prepared.
The kit includes:
- Illusions Pattern
- Fabric to complete the Quilt Top
- Inner Border Fabric
- Outer Border and Binding Fabric.
- Exclusive Wide Backing Fabric
- The opportunity to join in a year-long Sew Along with the Calico Cottage Staff which includes a monthly Friday (first Friday) Sewing Day from 10 AM to 4 PM
Cost is a one-time registration fee of $25 non-refundable & a monthly fee of $26.50.
We look forward to sewing along with you in 2022!
