Principal's Message
Hello Comet Nation,
The 2019- 2020 school year is well underway! I would like to thank everyone for an excellent start! Our students and staff are settling into routines and are already achieving great success both in and out of the classroom.
Thank you to every member of Comet Nation who purchased a Comets for a Cure t-shirt. We hope you can join us at this Friday's football game where Alex's Lemonade Stand will be selling lemonade. All proceeds will be donated to help fund childhood cancer research.
Please continue to follow us on Twitter (@SteelePrincipal, @NikkiCampbellAP, @aharigan), Remind (@mls1920), and visit the Steele website for the latest Steele happenings and information.
Go Comets,
Mr. Tellier

2019 Distinguished Alumni Gallery of Success
One of the most prestigious events held by the Amherst Schools is on the horizon as the 2019 Amherst Schools Distinguished Alumni Gallery of Success induction ceremony nears. This year, we will be honoring six members of the Amherst Comet family as they are inducted into a very impressive roster of graduates. The senior class, MLS Student Council, past inductees and the newest members of the Gallery of Success will enjoy the ceremony during homecoming on Friday, September 27 at 9:00 AM. This year’s Gallery class includes:
William McLoda - Class of 1955 - Educator, Author, Philanthropist
Patrick Sanders - Class of 1981 - Technical Director, MLS Theatre Company
Eileen Huh Shinn, Ph.D. - Class of 1985 - Assistant Professor, UT MD Anderson Cancer Center
Rodney Davis - Class of 1987 - Attorney & Entrepreneur
Katie Primm - Class of 2002 - Producer, NBC Universal
Cory Kampf - Class of 2005 - United States Naval Academy
The Gallery of Success was created in 1986 and has since inducted 125 members out of the nearly 20,000 graduates who have earned a diploma from the Amherst Schools. The purpose of its creation was two-fold. First, it was designed to honor those who were nurtured in our community and have found success in their lives. Equally as significant, it was conceived to spotlight successful graduates as a positive example to today’s students.
