Notes from the Principal
Student Safety Reminder
Remember that you should ALWAYS yield the right of way to our students as they are coming and going to school. Although we have wonderful crossing guards at several locations, there are other intersections that our students use where there is no crossing guard. There is not a crossing guard or traffic signal for crossing at Croftwood and Alexandria and cars do not yield to pedestrians there. Many children are biking, walking and scooting to school and this is creating a hazard for our children.
Please make sure you are slowing down whenever you see children in the area, particularly in the early morning or afternoon when students are travelling to and from school.
Campus Advisory Council Seeking New Members for the 2019-20 School Year
The Boone Campus Advisory Council is looking for 2-3 new parents to fill roles on the CAC. We meet once a month from 3:20 – 4:20 pm. The role of the CAC is to provide support and guidance over various school related topics and plans. Parent input is extremely valued at Boone and this is an important part of what keeps Boone great. The application for the CAC is attached to this email. Please complete the application and submit it to the main office. The CAC will be reviewing the applications and voting on new members at our May meeting. If you have any additional questions, please contact me directly at 512-414-5311.
Parent Input Student Placement Form
Attached to this email is the form for you to use to provide any input you would like regarding your child’s classroom placement next year. As always, I ask that you not request individual teachers by name. I simply cannot honor those requests. However, if there are any issues, concerns, or other student problems you would like us to know about, please complete the form and return it to the office. Hard copies are also available in the main office. Just drop by and we will get you one. Forms are due by May 3rd.
Opportunity to learn about becoming a Foster Parent
Would you be interested in becoming a foster parent? We already have several families in our community who serve as foster families. In 2018, 981 children in Travis and Hays counties were removed from their home due to abuse and neglect and were in need of a safe place to stay.

Be sure to put your teacher’s name on the bag or sheet you turn in. Also, please check the expiration dates as they do not accept expired Box Tops.
