Check-Out Checklist
Faculty and Staff,
Please be sure you are budgeting your time wisely as we approach the end of the year. Please make sure you are completing tasks on your end of year checklist in a timely manner. No staff member will be allowed to leave for summer until I have signed off on your checklist. Waxing in our building will begin June 6--this means you will not have time beyond June 5 to return to complete odds and ends. All checklists must be completed prior to leaving June 5. This is non-negotiable. Please do not ask me for any extra time. Failure to complete this process on time is not an option.
Title 1 Update
Title I plans are moving fast! After considering all of the priorities developed in our last leadership team meeting and looking at supporting data, I will be writing our comprehensive needs assessment requesting funding for the following: Reading Recovery, Pre-K Teacher and Assistant, Interventionist, Behavior Support Paraprofessional, and money to purchase supplies (math manipulatives are a priority).
Sonni, Carie and I met with Linda Crute and Pansy Bailey earlier this week. They are Title I parent engagement specialists. We have LOTS of fun activities next year to get families involved. One person from each grade level/content area should plan to attend each of the night events. You should begin determining a rotation for this and have this to me at the beginning of the year. You may also want to think about a rotation for SIC/PTO meetings, as one teacher from each grade level or content area should attend these as well.
- September 3: 4:30-7:30 Night at the Museum @ York County Museum
- September 23 5:30: If You Don't Know the Sender, It Might Be A Pretender Title 1 Session
- October 3: 5:30 Title I Meeting and Parent Session: "What do the Hokey Pokey and the Electric Slide have to do with Reading?"
- January 23, 2020 5:00 Math Night at Publix @Publix
- March 5, 2020 5:30 Nifty Numbers
You do not need to include these events in your rotation: (FYI)
- August 27 10:30: Picnicking with Reading
- November 14, 2019 Pastries with the Principal 8:00-9:00
- April 28, 2020 11:00 Summer Lunch and Learn: Imagine all the ways to learn. August
At MOST events, families will leave with books or math manipulatives they can use at home!
As Title I information becomes available to me you will all be informed! It is going to be an AMAZING year!
Placement Cards
Placement cards for placement meetings will be put in your box today. Please DO NOT misplace these! These should be completed and ready to be used to form classes on June 4 and 5. Specific times to be announced.
Kindergarten, I have ordered more supplies for new cards. These will be available to you next week.
2019-2020 Rosters
Once placement meetings are complete you should open this document and enter your class names in the format requested. Each homeroom teacher has their own page. Look at the bottom of the document and you will find your name. This is one of the items on your end of year checkout list.

New SS Standards Information
We are excited the South Carolina Social Studies College- and Career-Ready Standards have been approved now for all grades, K-12.
Next year, 2019-2020 will a be bridge year for Rock Hill Schools as we learn the new standards and create new curriculum maps and other resources for assessment and instruction.
We will fully implement the new social studies standards the following year, 2020-2021.
In addition, many of you have asked about testing in social studies for next year. At this point, we still do not know, but I will make you aware as soon as I receive word from the SCDE.
From Sara Sawczuk
Friday, May 17th will be the last day that I can allow students to check out books and ALL books will need to be returned to the library by Friday, May 24th. I know this will make a lot of kiddos unhappy, but I’ve got to be able to do an inventory of my collection before the end of the year.
Please, please encourage our students to return their books as the final due date approaches. I need all the help I can get! I’ll begin sending out overdue notices after the May 24th deadline has passed.
