Bring all media center books to school on Tuesday!
Monster Book Fair all Next Week!
Our media center has been transformed into the "Monster Center" in preparation for next week's Scholastic Book Fair! There will be hundreds of books from new and favorite authors, popular series, cool posters school supplies, and fun for everyone! We will go to the book fair as a class, but you are also able to take your child in the morning or afternoons, and it will be open during the FSA Thanksgiving on Thursday night!
We are previewing the book fair on Tuesday morning and students will be able to purchase books on Thursday morning. After we go to our preview day, students will fill out a list of books they are interested in with the price so that it'll make life easier for you if you want to send them with money on Thursday!
There will also be a wish list for our classroom so that parents and students can buy books for their classroom library!
If you are interested in helping cashier during bookfair or cleanup after, sign up here: http://vols.pt/1hQbXm
An Attitude of Gratitude
In class, we have been working on a 12-Day Gratitude Journal. Students have started each day with a prompt asking about different things they are thankful for. We also made pennants displaying something we are thankful for that can be found in our hallway. It has been a good way for us to talk and think about the amazing things we have. We are all very blessed!
Accelerated Reader
Remember you can always look up whether or not a book your child has is AR or not by using AR Book Finder. If you want your child to take an AR test, I will give them a little summary activity first to make sure they are prepared, and then they can take it at school.
Keep bringing in those cans!
Our student council organized canned food drive that will continue until Wednesday, November 18th. Our homeroom has only donated 20 cans and we are in need of more!
Students should bring these cans to me so I can count them for 1st grade. If you drop them off at the front office, please make sure you let them know which homeroom they should go to so we can count them in our total number of cans collected.
A Peek at Next Week...
* We will not have a spelling or weekly test this week!
Science: We will be reviewing Chapter 4 on Monday before taking our test on Wednesday.
Social Studies: We will be discussing the First Thanksgiving and the foods the Pilgrims and Wampanoag ate versus what we eat. We will also be talking about Thanksgiving Day traditions.
Character Education: We will wrap up our discussion on gratitude. We will be finishing up our gratitude journals and turning in our gratitude journals.
*A NOTE ABOUT HOMEWORK: I'll be sending an optional homework activity home over Thanksgiving break. If students would like, they can write about their break and what they did. Otherwise, enjoy your break! Don't forget to be working on your science fair project which is due on December 8th!
Home Visits
At FSAPS we do home visits. It is a wonderful opportunity for teachers and families to get to know one another. I enjoy home visits because it helps bridge the gap between home and school for your child. These are not mandatory, but if you are interested in having some of your child's teachers visit your home please continue to read...
How can you schedule a home visit?
Very simple. Please send an e-mail to our home visit coordinator, Mrs. Unal at junal@fultonscienceacademy.org and give us three available dates for your child's home visit program. We will get back to you and confirm a date. Depending on our teacher’s availability, at least two teachers will be together to visit our students and parents at their homes.
