Parents and Students SEL
Parents are Children’s First SEL Teachers
Simply put, SEL is how children learn to better understand themselves, relate to others, and work toward their goals. SEL includes five social and emotional skills – self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision making – that can be taught at all ages and in many different ways.
When young people have caring adults and many opportunities to practice these skills, they do better in school, feel good about themselves, can manage stress, and have healthier relationships.
By building this foundation, we can help young people learn, grow, and lead.
