Santiago and Maria researched the life of Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos. They gathered the information from a variety of sources and created a Google slideshow presentation with the information they learned throughout the project. Great job Santiago and Maria!

Building a Business- Games and Toys

3rd Grade
The students chose a project that generates an understanding of marketing, consumer awareness, and business models by studying the games and toys industry. Students learned about the making and selling of their favorite toys. Then they found their own toy company. They developed a prototype of a new toy, along with one of the following: a business plan for a toy/game company; marketing campaign to sell the toy/game; or plan to mass produce the toy/game. Eion, Dustin, and Evelyn did an amazing job creating the Mystery box toy!

Los estudiantes eligieron un proyecto que genera una comprensión de la comercialización, la conciencia del consumidor y los modelos comerciales mediante el estudio de la industria de juegos y juguetes. 4th Grade
Jorge researched a topic of his choice based on an interest-directed area and related it to curriculum standards in two subject areas. Jorge not only learned about the Science behind the different types of waves, but also how they help us in our everyday life. Great research, Jorge!

How to Repopulate Whale Sharks

Ian researched and created a presentation on how to repopulate whale sharks. He learned about what a whale shark needs in order to survive, where they live, how nature and humans affect whale sharks, how their extinction would affect its ecosystem, and how we can help whale sharks. Endangered Species

Amy researched and created a presentation on snow leopards which is an endangered species. She learned about what snow leopards need to survive, the type of habitat a snow leopard lives in, why the snow leopards' needs are not being met, how the extinction of the snow leopard could change the environment, and what can be done to help snow leopards survive. B&R's yummy yummy BURGERS

Braedyn and Ryan worked on creating a marketing plan for a food truck. They researched popular food items to create their marketing plan, decided who was their target audience, what product would be sold, where they were going to distribute their product, and what the hours of operation were going to be. Can't wait to try these yummy burgers at your future food truck! Great job!!

Destination Imagination Team
Team SUS placed 5th in the Fine Arts challenge: Tricky Tales at the Capital of Texas Region tournament. The team had to create and present a story about a team-created Trickster who attempts to overcome a tricky situation. They also had to design and create a costume that uses technical methods to go through a costume transformation during the presentation, and an illusion that enhances the story. Finally, students had to present two creations that show off the team's interests, skills, areas of strength, and talents.
El equipo SUS ocupó el quinto lugar en el desafío de Bellas Artes: Tricky Tales en el torneo de la Región de la Capital de Texas. El equipo tuvo que crear y presentar una historia sobre un Tramposo creado por el equipo que intenta superar una situación difícil. También tuvieron que diseñar y crear un vestuario que utiliza métodos técnicos para pasar por una transformación de vestuario durante la presentación y una ilusión que realza la historia. Finalmente, los estudiantes tuvieron que presentar dos creaciones que muestren los intereses, habilidades, áreas de fortaleza y talentos del equipo.

Mrs. Meyer looks for ways to enrich students who are identified Gifted/Talented. Just walk into her room and students are working on something that interests them. Her students have multiple opportunities to do research on people and things. The students get the most excited when they present their findings to the students and staff at CRES.
I nominate Mrs. Meyer because she is always differentiating for her G/T students and facilitates higher-order thinking projects. Her students just completed a project on how famous artists have contributed to the cultural heritage of our communities. Great job Tammy!
Mrs. Tammy Meyer is passionate about finding ways to challenge the thinking of our gifted students. She proposes social projects that peak the interests of our students, so that learning is fun and engaging. She is always looking for new ideas to bring to our gifted students. Her mind is always full of learning opportunities to bring to our school. Thank you Mrs. Meyer!

G/T Parent Support Group Information
A group of connected parents using their experience in guiding gifted children can accomplish much more than parents working alone. Whether united in advocacy at the state level or simply for mutual support, establishing a Parent Support Group (PSG) strengths the benefits gifted education can have in homes, classrooms, school districts, and even at the post-secondary level.
