Welcome Back!
I hope you all enjoyed the holidays with your family! It was good to have time off to spend with loved ones, and I hope you are all energized for the remainder of this school year!
STEM begins Monday!
Science
Our students are really looking forward to piloting the STEM program this year. The kits have been delivered, and the technology is set up. Students will be using the iPads to walk them through the creation of smaller toys and items before building robots. The ultimate goal is for students to write code for the robots to go through an obstacle course successfully.
Semester Grades
Grades were sent home with students in Friday Folders today. Look for a goldenrod colored paper that has your students grades. The grades are broken down by T1 (Quarter 1), T2 (Quarter 2) and S1 (Semester 1 average of T1 & T2). Now that we are beginning a new semester, students grades are wiped clean and all students have a fresh start. It is important to ensure that your student finished his/her homework each night to maintain good grades.
DARE
DARE is wrapping up in the next few weeks, which means DARE essays are right around the corner. Students are expected to write a five paragraph essay to the DARE guidelines. Class time will be given for students to complete this. Each student must write a DARE essay in order to graduate from the program. One exciting aspect is that one student will be chosen to read his/her essay at the DARE graduation! The date is not yet set, but I will communicate that with you when I know.
