Global Trade
Leanne Patton
Columbian Exchange
The global transfer of foods, plants, and animals during the colonization of the Americas. Some goods haven't been seen in Europe like tomatoes, tobacco, and cacao.
Triangular Trade
Europeans transferred manufacture goods to the west coast of Africa. European goods were traded for slaves that were then transferred across the Atlantic and sold in the West Indies. In the West Indies, merchants bought sugar, coffee, and tobacco and sailed with these goods back to Europe.
Middle Passage
This voyage brought captured Africans to the West Indies and later to the Americas to be sold as slaves. The reason why they used Africans instead of natives is because Africans couldn't escape since they didn't know the land, they were accustomed to European diseases, and they were experienced in farming.
